Hi Guys,

Trying to figure out my new Gear Ratio... My goal is to have a everyday highway driver 70 MPH and hit the small camping trails during the weekend.

Currently Have a 68' Scout 800, V8 304, with new BFG All Terrain (235/75R17) Tires and I'm looking to upgrade my rig to Scout II axles with a 5.3 or 6.0 Vortec with an automatic 4L60.

Reaching out to the group to see whats worked best in the past. I know the 5.3 and 6.0 LS Eng's are common applications.

Hopefully scout2000 will chime in-house he built one with a 5.3. You could find his build thread of pm him. Also are you planning on staying with small tires or going larger?

Thanks for the insight, I'll look up his thread. I plan on staying with the current size tires since there brand new and have no real need to go larger currently.

You want 3.73’s but what do you have now? It may just work fine as well no reason to waste money if so.
