Got to get everything cut off the front axle yet and remove king pins, will do that on my next dayshift weekend at work, lots of fireaxe there!

Also want to cut the knuckles enough to get them to crack and turn.

Got the front hubs, rotors all cleaned up and painted(need all new bearings and seals). Rear 14 bolt hubs need some machine work to the wheel mount surface, just too rusted. Trying to save spending $450 on two new hubs.

Hoping my friend can take em to work and put em on the manual lathe.

Found a bunch of Dorman lug studs from 2.25" to 4" depending on my needs.

This is going to be fun!

I've settled on 5.13 Gears too. I should have put 4.56's in and not 4.88's with the 35's. Just because I like streetable driving too much so 5.13s will be the same as the RPMs I'm running now with 37's and only drops a couple hundred RPM up to 40's.

I get stuff like that used from the U-Pull-It yard 10 minutes from my house.
I think I'll Check the local u pull yard. But most 1 ton axles are gone from rigs round here. And with the price of scrap usually nothing older than 15 years in our rusty yards.

Started cleaning up some of the parts. Ordered all the parts for the brake calipers.

Cleaned them up and painted em. The rear parking brake calipers needed a full rebuild on one of them due to a stuck Piston, the other just needed pins and o rings.

Going to take the knuckles, spindles and brake anchors to work to clean up.

Ordered SKF 99156 speed sleeves for the inner axle shafts in the 60.

Still need to order bearings and kingpin rebuild kits. Doing it slowly over the coming months...

They're likely going to end up under there this winter and I'll buy wheels and tires in the spring....

Or I'm lying... Who knows.

Okay I'm lying,

You don't realize how much the small parts nickle and dime you into poor state of cash...

2 years is a better Idea, that way it can be done and done right.

Easy 5k into just the axles, I'm already at 2k. And I don't have gears or lockers or inner gut rebuilds yet... Or front outer 35 spline stubs/lockouts...

And then I'm an easy 4k in wheels and tires...

Yup it sucks eh. Looking at a set of these...

Spider lock wheels he wants $1700 for them.

Or price us is $420 ea, works out to 2100 cdn. Not really a huge deal for a set of 4 used wheels. I'll likely pass.

Operation ton swap just got serious.

These however do say off-road use only...

The center bores are 125mm. Don't fit on the front hubs perfect. But I do have two 1/2" machined steel spacers for the front hubs that previous owner used without issue just need long enough lugs. Or I can either machine the weld on the hub down or machine the lip in the wheel for a deeper angle on the cone...

Think I'll just run the spacer.

Might even have the spacers welded to the hubs.

But here they are.

Got doing a bit on the front axle with my pinion rotated 16 deg like I did on the Dana 44. My C's would be at negative 5 deg of caster so they will need to be rotated 10- 12 deg.

I'm also just going to cut the original cast perch off and weld in a new perch just like I did on the Dana 44.

Other wise I'd need a 15 deg shim made... Screw that. I've got angled washers 5/8 and 3/4 for bolting in I beams that stacked together should work for bolting the top u bolt plate down.

At ride height my current perches are rotated back about 4-5 deg. So the springs don't sit flat at the perch. This may have been because of where I drilled the reverse shackle mount hole in the frame, lower to get more lift.

Also got the front and rear brake calipers completed. Had to rebuild one of the parking brake calipers, new piston and seals. The other was nice and free.

I ordered the wrong front brake pads due to me not realizing that the pads that were under the 2005 Workhorse RV calipers were still the stock 1 ton pads (they fit the calipers). So now I have a giant set of pads that are useless and wasted 40 bucks but (rockauto) not worth shipping em back.
