I recently purchased a SS hard top. Looking for anyone that has one that could send pictures of theirs to me. I know there have been some “improvements” to several areas of mine and looking to try to make it as original as I can. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's homemade? As far as I know IH never offered a hard top model of the SSII. It was no top or soft top only.
They have come up before. Guess they were aftermarket?? http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/index.php?threads/fiberglass-hardtop-on-fiberglass-ssii.108275/ http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/index.php?threads/ssii-fiberglass-top-and-doors.44061/
Thanks for the info and links- this is some of the info I was looking for. It was an after market top. So far I have found 1 other person with one. His is missing the tail gate. I am still looking for close up pictures to determine what I need to do to make mine as original as possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Might try contacting Ron A if he doesn't chime in first. He's still active and had a link that's no longer valid to some pics in a old post. http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/index.php?threads/ssii-hardtop-pics-anyone.23529/
I have a set of doors but never seen the hardtop other then cut down travler tops, sure looks nice ,have you had it on the scout yet
I just picked up the top recently and my SS is currently in transit to me. I do plan on installing it once it arrives. My SS is non running so it may go to storage, till I have time, but I will get a few pictures posted. I suspect the doors hinges that are already on the SS will not match the fiberglass door mounts, but would be pleasantly surprised if they did. Would love to see pictures of your doors. Especially close up of windows, knobs. Are your windows plexiglass? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
More pictures- mine needs work - 2 windows are cracked, rear hinges have been replaced with incorrect piano hinges. I hope to be able to put it back to original shape. I just realized the traveler gasket/molding might be the correct length for the two side pieces. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will dig them out and get pics. I made a few mistakes with mine ,after going down the road a while the handles would vibrate off the clasp they hooked to and always seemed to be the pass side at the wrong time. So I took them out and cut a square hole and put in the flip latch type of handles on a truck tool box ,have a few bugs to work out to make them more user friendly. I just used a set of stainless hinges from a sheep.not original .but my scout is all glass and the only thing original ss is the motor and vin tag lol
Hey uplander on your doors where it looks like they were re glassed did they put a rod in there to stiffen the door up .i have been wanting to try that on mine
One door has the areas that looks like they were fiberglassed to stiffen up the door. The other door does not have that repair/improvement. It does look like they used a metal rod underneath the new fiberglass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yours looks to have a covering on the inside the door? Also can you take a close up of the window knobs on the doors? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes- always interested in seeing pictures. Especially the rear gate and hinges Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
