There used to be two old crusher yards we used to go to but both have shut down over the years. The scrap yard I go to doesn't take whole cars. I've been cutting up the junkers so it doesn't matter but pretty tired of all that work. Have one now that's just about ready to go . Non IH. Complete but stripped shell. No interior, suspension, fuel tank or driveline. Glass is still in it but there's no plastics, oils or fuel. Basically it's a pile of tin. Question is that a junk yard has no use for this, a 'normal' scrap yard won't take cars so does anyone know of a crusher yard in southern NH, ME , or north eastern Mass that will take something like this over the scale?

Pile of light iron is getting deeper, really want it out before the snow comes in. . Found a junk yard/ metal recycler in southern NH that accepts auto shells with the light iron. Does $100.00 a ton sound about right for this time of year?

Scrap is 50 a ton around here.. the bottom fell out when the commander in chief started the trade wars.

Oh well. It's been worse and prices haven't been all that great in a while anyway.

Just to close this out. Prices must vary slightly region to region or maybe we're just slow on the changes around here. Brought in the auto shell packed with some hoods, doors and some other light iron scrap. 1950lbs . Worked out to be 85.00 a ton. These guys had a pretty good pile stacked/stored. Good indication they're waiting for the prices to start heading in the other direction.

Didn't want to start another thread. Next in line to go is a 98 Safari van, disc/drum . Parting out, Just mentioning in case anyone local is looking for a hydroboost.

Edit: Van is gone.

Wondering if anyone's made any scrap runs lately.
Last time it almost wasn't worth the time.
Looks like it's better now but unsure.
Any recent experience on what's being paid now?

Best time is winter. Around 1st of the year or a bit before.
Guess I should know better by now. . Winter is just a bad time. Shorter days with too much to do. Will have to plan better when/if the snow holds off next fall.

I just checked, in SW MI, car bodies are 265 ton and mixed scrap metal is about the same.
That's about what I saw as well. Have some piles building up again and don't mind moving some more crap out at that price. Just wasn't sure if I was misreading the info.
