Attached is an performance assessment of the stock distributor advance curves vs the ideal, as simulated with an IHC V304E model developed for DynoSim-5. The write-up addresses the tolerance of the engine family to spark advance - and indicates that the stock advance rate of 4 deg per kRPM is optimal for the V304E.The effect of static timing BTDC on peak horsepower and torque is presented in tabular and graphic form .
