I guess I must have posted originally in the wrong place. I joined your group a little while back. I had asked about getting body work done on my 71 800B here in New Jersey but got no replies. That should of been a clue. I live in Monroe Twp and have asked several body shops about painting all of them say they don't do restoration work. I have been doing a frame off restoration. My scout has no rust, came from LA. Does anyone know where I can get a good paint job. I have access to a trailer so I can transport.

I wish I could help you out. I really dont know of any place around me either. Are you looking for show stopper or just some fresh paint?

Just a nice fresh paint job. I want to use my scout as my everyday driver but I want it to look good going down the road. I've done a frame off so the body is still in pieces.

If you did a frame off and the body work is all done. Paint the frame and the underside of the body yourself...or, find a shop that will paint the rolling chassis. Then, haul it home, drop the body on, and take it back to a shop - no different than re-painting a car at that point.

Sounds like business is good in NJ and they don't want your money. Any good shop that does custom paint ought to accept your Scout.

Try going to a Fri/Sat night car show at the local Lowe's-Drivein-Grocery Store

Then ask some of the folks with cars if they might recommend someone

Some good ideas. I think I'll do the chasis and under the body myself then like you suggest hit a couple car shows and get some recommendations.
