HCB BINDER BASH * MARBLE FALLS, TEXAS * APRIL 20, 2013
Dear HCB Members,
I’m hoping as many members as possible can make the HCB Bash this year. As everyone who attended can tell you, last year we had such an excellent time seeing some old friends and making several new ones from the two other Texas Binder clubs. A weekend full of memories and several friendships were forged. Hidden Falls Adventure Park has some awesome, well-manicured trails for those who want the “trail experience” without trashing your ride. For those who insist on a little carnage and risk, there are “special” trails and creek beds to ravage through as well. What was even better was getting to know some of the folks from Gulf Coast Binders and North Texas Binders, while eating some great BBQ, sipping on your favorite beverage of choice, sitting around the campfire sharing stories of Binders past, (LOL).
In addition, you have also heard me shamelessly promoting the Charity Raffle that began last year at the Bash. The money raised by this raffle will again be presented to the IH Charity Auction during the 2013 IH Scout and light truck Nationals in Troy, Ohio in August. A little insight as to where these contributions go;
Last year, one third of the charity fund went to the IH Historical Society. These are the folks that keep and maintain all things IH, which includes where your line set tickets come from. One third went to Alzheimer’s foundation, (this in respect for and honor of Ted Ornos, creator of the Scout). The final third went back to the Binder community as money divided and distributed to the “winner of show” at various IH venues throughout the country to help those winners get to the NATS to showcase their vehicles there as well and increase attendance for same.
My point in all this is to rally the HCB members to do your best to make it out to the Bash. You don’t need to bring a Scout, (though it is much cooler when you do), and even if you can’t make the trip, please support the raffle as best you can. You do not need to be present to win and anyone fromHCB can bring your prize back to Austin / San Antonio, and to the next HCB meeting. Collectively, the three Texas clubs raised $1000.00 last year and this year with the amount and quality of prizes from
IH Parts America, Eaton/Detroit Locker, Isa’s IH, 4 wheel parts, Super Scout Specialists, Betsy Blume and more, we hope to smash that record. I hope we can depend on everyone’s support for a great cause and that you can find a way to come join us for a great time!
