Hi, I have a 1965 scout 80 without an engine in it. I have the original engine just not in the scout. I was interested in replacing it with an updated v6 fuel injected engine and automatic transmission. What would you recommend ? Thanks Mike

What was the original engine. While you can put anything in you can squeeze in the engine bay of you want to, there may be some easier options depending on what you had originally.

The Ford 2.5L four had good low end torque and would fit well. With the old-car destruction program of some years ago, I don't know where one would be found anymore. I don't know the torque specs for the sixes, even though I rebuilt a 3.8L one a dozen years ago. Adapting either one to a transmission might be a challenge. A transaxle setup might be an interesting conversion for a 2WD version though.
