OK, I'll go.

Name: Dan Powlus

International owner since: 2004

Interested in IH since: 1978

Location: Hudsonville ( halfway between Grand Rapids and Holland)

Owner of: see my sig line

Married - 3 grown kids - 2 grandkids (so far, but that youngest boy needs to get busy! :) )

My Traveler is a daily driver and as such, isn't the prettiest truck on the road, but I love driving thru the snow whil everyone else whines about the bad roads :hammer:

I enjoyed the camraderie of our first meeting and hope we can make a real nice club out of it.

I am mechanically illiterate, but that doesn't stop me from trying.

Family: Wife Pam of 16 yrs (very supportive of my IH obcession :) . Two boys - Jacob 12 and Justin 8. They are as crazy about basketball as I am about trucks and tractors, and although I'm biased they are both pretty good!

I grew up in an IH family as my Dad got a job as a mechanic at an IH dealership the year I was born, 1965. We of course had trucks, Scouts, tractors, and Cub Cadets around the house on a regular basis. Dad bought his first Scout when I was about 12 or 13, a 61 model 80. I learned to drive in that Scout and drove us home from the dealership many times before I had a drivers license. (I worked there with Dad after school and during the summer all through high school). Also plowed a lot of snow with it. Dad still has that Scout but it is just a stripped body, and he has had several more over the years.

I bought my first and only Scout in 97 in Texas, a 77 SSII. I wish I had more time and money to do a correct restoration / build-up, but I have a lot of fun with it in its "beater" form. Although I am missing the inserts, I started running my Scout doorless this past summer. Those of you at the first meeting know I had a chilly ride home that night!

I have posted this elsewhere on here before but I also have seven Cub Cadets, and recently bought a Farmall 806. I have a 67 1200 4x4 pickup that needs a full restoration.
I'm the second owner and it was sold new at the dealer my Dad and I worked at. It had a hard life hauling ice, plowing snow, and farming.

I'm looking forward to our club getting off the ground and making new IH friends.

Hello IH fans!

My name is Ben Terpstra. I own a 1979 Scout II. It is my first IH, before it I ran a 1972 K5 Blazer. My father-in-law introduced me to Internationals. The family has a cottage in Silver Lake where we spend a lot of time during the summer.

I am 32 years old and have been married for 6 years. I have a three year old son named Jacob and 4 month old twins - one boy, Brayden and one girl, Izabela(Izzy). We live in West Olive between Grand Haven and Holland.

I missed the first meeting, but am looking foward to meeting all of you at the next.

Duh. I should've started this thread with my own intro. Sorry... report me to the forum moderator. ;)

I'm Jerry Dominowski and I first encountered the BB in, geez, something like '98 or '99 on the old board, bought my first IH in Oct '03, and (unfortunately) sold it this past fall. I'm gathering mad money to fund another one (or to maintain the Danner Scout that I'll be winning soon), but don't expect to look seriously until spring. I am a recovering Jeeper (multi-CJ's, YJ, Cherokee) but am a huge Scout fan.

I am a member of the Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association and United Four Wheel Drive Associations. I'm also a TreadLightly Trainer.

Married to a (usually) very supportive wife :ninja:, have three kids (Zach, Caitlin, and Josh), love to camp, interested in trailrides, possible dune runs, avoid bogs like the plague, and want to get back in to fishing.

Although I am ORV-less, I'm more than willing to ride shotgun and take pics... Please? Anyone??... :D

Oh yeah, I'm also the GLB forum moderator, so don't tick me off.
:tank:

Well, even though I'm below the border, I'll post....I'm going to try to make some meetings, even though some of them are in far away places ;)
Dennis Bernth, married to Tammy for all of two months :) She's VERY supportive, between us we've got three kids (her one son, me a son and a daughter) all grown, but no grandkids :(
Got my first Scout in about 1978, it was a 73 Scout II and it was very impressive in the snow. Back in about 1997 or 98 I stumbled across the BB and have been here ever since. I've had a couple of 800's, but mostly Scout II's- can't remember them all. Right now I've got a 79 Scout II with a soft top (bought it originally in 2000, sold it when I got divorced in 2005, and bought it back this past spring) that needs a LOT of work since the shop fire back in October :( Also have a very solid 79 Traveler that's going to be a Terra when I'm done with it......a 79 plow truck that's supposed to be enroute to me from MA.....and a 74 Scout II that I have to pick up in Northern MI yet (along with it's partner parts truck). Besides all of that, I've got three parts trucks sitting here now....along with a semi trailer full of junk that I've pulled from Scouts over the years (I'm SURE I'll eventually need one of THOSE!). Although I have strayed into the 'baby Scout' realm a couple of times (briefly), and had one full size IH pickup (again briefly), I keep coming back to the Scout II's, so I've pretty much figured that's my comfort zone and that's probably what I'll stick with. Soon as the shop is back up and operational, first order of business is to swap engines in the Traveler/Terra, and get it roadworthy- it might make the ride to Nats this coming year, depending on how long redoing the soft top takes. Hope to make a meeting soon, and I might even be driving a Scout....but it'll probably be a rusty hulk plow truck, I don't like exposing solid sheet metal to salt.

Well, I missed the first meeting by a week or two, but very excited to get to meet the rest in person sometime soon.

I have been interested in IH Scouts since about 2001 when I started college in the UP. That is where I was bitten by the offroad bug and was looking through an old National Geographic magazine in art class, and fell in love with Scouts then.

I bought Jerry's 76 scout. 345 V8. The truck sounds great!, but I need to change the gas and replace the gaskets before she runs like a top. ( at least I hope that is it)

The truck is missing both doors, both front fenders and the hood right now. I am in the process of rust removal and painting of the truck.

I was living in Presque Isle, MI. (30 miles north of Alpena, 1.5 hours east of Gaylord), but recently moved to the basement of my future in-laws in Westland, MI and changed jobs. So that means the work on the scout is very slow right now.

So quick bio

Name - Carl Jarema
Age - 25
Will be married in August, and the fiance is supportive (because she thinks that means I won't take her truck off-roading.)

That is about it I guess

Hello everyone!
I would like to introduce myself to those of you who don't know me. I'm married to my beatiful wife Rhonda, and have 3 children, Taylor, Spencer and Brandon. We just moved from the Downriver area to the Jackson area in November. I'm an avid outdoorsman. Bowhunting is my biggest sport. I also enjoy fishing and just about any other type of hunting there is to do. I've had 3 Binders as of date. A '79 Traveler, '73 Travelall and currently have a 77 Scout ll. I drove it down with Paul Weeks and Nick Rayer @ '07 Nat's. Those two have been a great help to me over the past couple of years and we have become pretty good friends! I did get a chance to meet Dennis Bernth, and Tim Gott last year. Also Don Minor and and few other Michiganders @ Nationals. I've only been involved with the IH scene for a few years, but have always had a passion for them since I was a young buck. I don't get on the B.B. as much as I used to, with the new move and all, but hopefully when we get a little more settled around here and I get some projects done, I'll be able to make some of the meetings and such. Until then, feel free to drop me a P.M. or Email if you like, and I'll get back with you asap. Look forward to meeting all of our GLB's!!!

Thanks,

Tony

I guess its my turn. I am 43, married to my wife Trish for 15 years. Two boys aged 13 and 10. I got my first IH in high school, a 64 c1100. Sold it last year. I have had numerous scouts, travelers, pickups and travelalls. Currently have a 67 scout 800, 71 800B "comanche", 76 terra and a fiberglass bodied 79 SSII clone. Also have 6 parts rigs and a ton of parts from 25 years of collecting. I mow my 3 acres with a 149 or 1650 cub cadet, pushmow with a IH mower. Keep the beer in my 1950 IH refridgerator in the garage and the frozen treats in the 1950 IH chest freezer.
To pay the bills I am a repairman for AT&T.

Paul Weeks here,
I'm 43, married to Rene for 14 years next month and reside in Carleton which is about 5 miles from Monroe. I have a '77 SSII (4cyl), a '68 800 (266), a '68 Cub Cadet 72, and just recently a '63 (I'm 99% sure) Cub Lo-Boy. I've had my SSII for 15 years, took 6 of those to put it together. Working on the '68 now, both Cub and CC are operational. I work for a stamping company as a CMM operator.

What's Up?!!!

My name's Nate Lee, and I am 30 years old. I live in Kalamazoo, Mi., which is in the southwest. I have been into Scouts for about 12 years, and I have owned five so far, and three currently. My 1972 is the real project and money pit, and my 1979 just tagged a concrete parking garage wall after the brakes went out. Currently I am driving a 1970 800A, and I am taking donations to get the 1972 back on the road.

I always seem to make it to Nationals, and I was fortunate to meet many of you there. I look forward to the dune run at Silverlake this year, and any other events that we can organize.

By the way, if anyone has a welder in the area, I really need to fab some body mounts for the old style Kentrol tub.

Nice to meet you all, and if you guys in the area need help, let's bust some knuckles together!!

Hi my name is Joe colegrove. I live in Leslie, mi. that is halfway between Lansing and Jackson on 127. I love anything out doors, I really love four wheeling, any kind of terrain. I just bought my first IH it is a 1969 1200 ¾ ton pickup, it has a 44 front a 60 rear, t-18 or 19 (have not figured it out yet) and a np205. I used to be a jeep guy, but I was cured:beta1: I also raise horses, show them, I barrel race and other speed stuff. I train dogs, specialize in hunting dogs. My wife and I will have been married for 3 years in April 30 08. She is fairly supportive of this little habit. But she already like the truck better then the jeeps I had. But she has a horse show habit, so we are even. Love anything out doors, love car and trucks, camping anytime of the year, I am pretty much game for anything. I was an EMT, and fire fighter, (so if you get hurt I can poke you with a big stick, joking) I am not much of a mechanic, but I am hell on wheels with a hammer. Look forward to meeting other IH people in my area (and everybody not in my area.

I am not much on these things. My name is Darren Cunningham I live in the Lansing area, Haslett and I am a addict........Scouts that is........Thought I should clarify that! A single parent of a 10 year old son that has taken great interest in the scout's as well aee. I have owned scouts since 91 when I was in college and out west as a rafting guide in Colorado I bought my first one. My folks had a couple in the 70's but to young to remember other than one was lime green the other was yellow think. My signature shows what I have for scouts now. Still hunting for a Wagon Master mabe a diesel scout. But who knows. I have alot of parts and some literature. Spend alot of my free time working on the scouts. Kyaking, white water rafting visiting colorado and western states, camping, boating and some hunting and fishing. Enjoy going up north 4 wheeling....easy hate tearing them up....I don't go muddin like it just can't get myself to take my scouts out in that stuff. I have a hard enough time when it rains. Only my 73 which is my daily driver.

Ionia,
I am Patrick Lyons from the Ionia area. I am married to a very beautiful young woman ( Julia ) who has fond memmories of riding in a Travelall as a kid so I do have support, age wise I just passed the speed limit. I have twin sons off serving in the NAVY, they are both over seas at this time but should be back early to mid summer, they are in there 9th year of service. My first IH experence came about back in the 60's riding in my uncles scout. We have a 1974 Travelall 4X4 with a good running 392 but a trans that is giving me a pain. My plan is for this to become a tow vehical for anything to big for a J--p. I did attend the first GLB meeting but I had to drive a J--p.
