This thread will show some of the common repairs and improvements that our "Round Body " Travelalls, Travelettes, and Trucks could benefit from.
All photos and information is specifically based on a 1967 Travelall , However most if not all 61-68 round bodies have the same doors .
At this point in time I have the four side doors completely apart
It's going to take some time to document and photograph the reassembly ,I will add to and update thread as time allows
Let's start with taking one apart ( rear side door)

Crank window down
Pry the rubber escutcheon down that resides behind the window and door handles
This will allow you to see a hole where a small plain pin lives , Simply push or lightly tap out
the pin, and handles pull off.
20160430_162856_001.jpg 20160430_163105.jpg

remove inner panel and inner window frame , Note that the frame has the inner window
wiper stapled to it , The chrome trim has the outer wiper stapled to it
20160430_162720.jpg 20160430_164235.jpg 20160430_164230.jpg

Remove the section of flexible window channel at the top of the window,
It is held in with toothed spring clips , If you squeeze the channel next to the clips
with pliers they loosen their grip and pop out fairly easy with a small screwdriver
20160430_164403.jpg

Remove clip from window regulator arm , here is what it looks like .
You won't be able to see it ,Hence the picture of it out in the open .
The window can be slid up and down as needed .
ih weather stripping clip.jpg

Remove the two screws that hold the window tracks (one per track) they are
located at the bottom of the track, Picture shows a phillips screwdriver poised to remove
the screw
20160430_165201.jpg

The track will now be able to slide down enough to release the clip that holds it in the
window frame , Some of them are kind of tight and will need a tap with a block of wood
and small hammer .
20160430_165617.jpg

Now the tracks can be removed from the door
Tip-Removing the hinge side track first seems to work better

20160430_165713.jpg

After the tracks are out , window can be removed , The regulator just unscrews .
The inner door handle/door latch both unscrew ,
The outer door handle has one screw ( hiding on edge of door ) and a 3/8 nut
that can be accessed from door cavity ,

The thin chrome strip Is really a bugger to remove , There is small amounts of rock hard adhesive that does
not help matters , I removed them so the new window wipers can be attached securely , work on it from the
backside of door ( less chance of scratching it , There is ten little bumps that it clips over , Start right next to the little
piece of cover trim , The bumps start very close to them ,The cover trim simply slides one way or other .

Front door disassembly
Use small screwdriver to pop out the ends of the flexible channel at the top of window frame,
remove the rest of flex channel
Remove the screws that hold the top ends of window tracks in the window frame ,
Remove bottom screw ( latch side track) , and two screws on the bottom sill of door ,
ih weatherstrip 002.jpg ih weather strip 001.jpg ih weatherstrip 006.jpg

Pop out the entire rubber seal for the wing window , there will be four screws
holding the wing window frame to the door frame .
Remove the little chrome push in button (near wing window) remove the screw it allows access to
ih weatherstrip 007.jpg

The window wipers are held in place with small clips ,two small screwdrivers (one on each side of clip)
work good to pop them loose , Start removing them near the wing window frame , they
get a bit tough to pop loose as they are tucked under the track on the other end.
20160430_125117.jpg

Remove rubber bumper attached to window track , remove small machine screw and nut that hold
window track and lower bracket together , There is one more screw at the top of lower bracket
ih weatherstrip 010.jpg

Remove regulator arm clip , The entire wing window frame, and window track can now be removed
Note hole where the little chrome button resides , It allows access to the screw that mounts the bottom
pivot of wing window
ih weatherstrip 012.jpg

The window, window track, regulator and latch mechanism can now be removed
The lock mechanism is held in place by a clip , Pull it straight out from edge of door to remove

Great write-up. I'm going to bookmark this post to keep for future reference. My 67 will need some door/window work in the near future as the windows rattle when they're rolled up.

I have several round body Travelalls and they all need this done. Thanks for the thread with all the pictures. Are all the new materials still available? If so where are you getting them?

Regards, Carl

Apparently all the window track, wing window, door seals are all available in the aftermarket ,and Light Line dealers, I am still doing research on any quality differences ,
pricing etc. Before pulling the trigger, If anybody has any info in this area , Would love to hear it ,

Has anybody seen window gaskets or seals for "barn door" style travelalls ??
I have seen some parts available for the tailgate style

Here is what I know. I looked into this years ago and at that time the vent window seals were not available. When I found that out I decided to wait until they were so I wouldn't have to do it twice (break the doors down) I had contacted Kirkland International after looking at his International truck collection online and asked if he knew about availability of the wind wing seals. He told me that "Restoration Specialties" was in the process of making the dies to reproduce them. I talked to them (Restoration Specialties) several times over a period of several years and got the same answer, they were still working on them and didn't know when they would be available.

I called them again today and the wing vent seals have been available for awhile.

Here is their contact information. Restoration Specialties
148 Minnow Creek Lane, Windber, PA 15963
Phone# 814-467-9842
I spoke with Todd. They have an online catalog in PDF form. Look at pages 54 thru 59 for all of their IHC parts offerings. Pages 57 and 59 have everything concerning the 61 thru 68 trucks. I hope this may help.

Restoration Specialties has the windshield, quarter panel and barn door window gaskets listed on page 59 of their online PDF file.

Any thoughts on how similar the B-series are to the C-series that you're working on? I need to do just about everything you're doing. Parts of my truck look similar to yours--e.g., the door handles, window rollers and the inner door cover panel all look like they're the same. On my truck, the rubber gasket materials have deteriorated to the point that I can't tell what should go there. I'm hoping the B and C are similar enough that the materials you are using are the same as what I need.

To go along with Big Ed's post , The wing window frame has just enough give , To flex and let
the window pop out
ih weatherstrip 016.jpg

There is a rubber seal riveted on the straight side of the frame , Ed did the new seals come with rivets ??

Rotmilky , I know the doors look very similar , as far as parts interchange I can't say . Most all the parts say 1961-68
Maybe someone else knows ??

Rotmilky, I know the windshield gasket is the same. Not sure of the rest of the stuff, but it sure looks like it would work!
Thanks guys for the wind wing info.

Would guess the main differences would only be be with the hinge location and window tracks related to the extra height of the B series door.

Very nice write-up. I'm working on the same thing right now on our '66 Travelette.

You mentioned looking for rear barn door seals. Contact RJ at Outback parts, that's where I got mine. He also sells the wing window seals.

This left rear side door is off my 67 Travelall , The truck lived in Montana with the original owner until it got brought out to Mass.
I removed the skin from the door for repairs , It was badly kinked and creased , The door frame had some bends also .
While I have the windows and seals etc, out of the doors I am going to treat the inner door cavities with Eastwood
internal frame coating , Most obvious problem areas are ,, The stiffening plate for the outside door handle , The area
where the window wipers live, and on some crustier doors the lower skin area right above the rockers .
20160415_122310.jpg 20160415_122222.jpg 20160415_122233.jpg

I purchased this replacement door from a light line dealer as "a good solid door just bolt it on "
Needless to say I was a bit disappointed (lesson learned If you have to buy from afar get lots of pix)
The door did look ok from the outside , Even the skin would need some serious work to be usable .
ih weatherstrip 026.jpg ih weatherstrip 032.jpg ih weatherstrip 028.jpg ih weatherstrip 025.jpg ih weatherstrip 035.jpg

I opted to fix my original door . Here it is bolted on for a trial fit
ih weatherstrip 036.jpg
These are some of the areas where I have seen rust issues beginning to develop ( even on some of my best dry desert doors )

ih weatherstrip 032.jpg

The stiffening plate behind the outer door handle , Even on very nice doors seems to hold water
and the rust starts
ih weatherstrip 025.jpg ih weatherstrip 040.jpg

Most front doors ( if not all ) seem to have the "oil can " syndrome , IH glued a piece of insulation between the
cross support and the door skin , I am going to use 3-4 of these little kids soft hockey pucks , They seem to be
just the right consistency to support the skin .

These big ol' doors take their toll on the hinges , sometimes the hinge pins are broke in three pieces and the hinge
still works "kinda" This is my fix for the lower front hinge and the rear side door hinges

Getting the pieces out is half the battle , I can only offer heat and careful beat :1eye:
ih hinge 013.jpg ih hinge 003.jpg

Now I drill or preferably ream the top and middle section of the hinge out to 3/8"
The bottom section gets tapped out to 3/8-16
You could forgo the thread tapping and drill the entire hinge out , Trim and grind the bolt for
a more original appearance ,
ih hinge 012.jpg

Then a grade 8 3-1/2" 3/8 bolt gets used as the pin , The shoulder is just long enough that there is no
threads to gall the moving part of hinge, If there is any up and down movement tightening the bolt
slightly takes care of it .
