1977 Scout II Project

It should run great! We'll be finding out soon, if all goes well.

It was supposed to be a 2010 GM color, but that ended up being a REALLY expensive tri-coat. We settled on a Mazda color that is a REALLY near match to it, and about half the cost. I don't recall the color name, but watch around town for a REALLY pearly maroon Mazda, and that will be it. In the shade, it is very dark and has little "bling factor", but when the sun hits it, it lights up like a neon sign!

Jeff, I will hang a door panel on it this week and post a picture for you. I haven't tried it yet, but I know they are going to look GREAT in there!

Auto Fair was originally the plan, but we certainly do not want to rush it. There is a lot of work to be done, and I still have a lot of sign work, too! Honestly, at this point I imagine that Carlisle is more likely.

We're still plugging away at this, painting the door latches, strikers, and lots of other small stuff. We started out with zinc plating all of it, but didn't like the look. So now we're painting it with some corrosion resistant stainless steel paint from Eastwood. We got cables for the tailgate, struts for the liftgate, all new tinted glass for the top, etc. The paint is getting sanded and buffed, and is about half done. Looks much better. We have the carpet laid out in the back to get flattened for installation, too. We have lots going on, for certain. Hopefully soon it gets wired and operational, too!

Can't wait to see the photos. What cables and struts did you use on the rear opening?

The cables are F-150 pieces, and work perfectly. The struts are froma part number I found on this site looking around. We have yet to put the struts on it, though.

We got the doors "final aligned" today, the new tinted glass in the top, etc. I guess the doors are good enough:

Thanks, Mark! It's gonna be difficult to see it drive away, I know that. It's a really sweet ride, for sure. The owner hasn't seen it since paint, but is coming down lat next week. If he is half as excited to see it as we are FOR him to see it, he'll lose sleep!

Today we got the power window wiring finished up, tinted slider glass installed, and some other small stuff. It's coming together well!

That's NOT primer on the rocker, BTW. It's tape to protect it from scratches while we work inside. Looks like primer in the pics...

Stripes went on one side today, and a little wax/sealer to make it shine like it should!

The stripes are silver/charcoal...not white like the picture makes 'em look.

I like allot of the factory stripes, but the spear has to be my favorite!

Thanks. The Spear is the least '70s-ish of them, and the customer liked it on our gray Scout here...so we went with it! It does look great! He made a good choice!

That is sweeeeeeeeet, like the color an the stripe. I'm trying to talk the wife into something close to my Scout color(but differant) and this is just enough differant she might go for it.
