I am in NH, I have 1979 II w/ 345 this past year I started working out the basics on my truck. Rather than dealing with the carter carb I opted to in install an Edelbrock 1406. Everything seemed to go well, but when I am coasting around town it seems like the thing is loading up with fuel. Get some minor backfiring. Has anyone dealt with this issue, do I need to change out the metering rods to something different?

Fuel level in the fuel bowl is important as well as base idle mix. What do the plugs look like? They're the best indicator of rich or lean.
