I need your opinion on something. I built some new fuel tank straps out of aluminum because that's all the local Home Depot had on hand (plus they're bling...which is of the utmost importance ;)) I'm getting mixed reviews on whether or not this material choice is any good.

I don't think they will be a problem on the corrosion or strength argument. The corrosion chart I have says they will be fine in even the harshest environment, and aluminum is 1/3 the strength of steel but is the same at 3x the thickness of the steel being compared to. Aluminum is 1/8", which is pretty thick for something only holding about 200 lbs standing weight.

I could buy some flat steel in a town not to far away I think, but don't believe I need to.

What do you think?
