New rebuild, towing & break-in procedures

if there is no smoke at cold start, you are out of oil! All my IH engines smoke at start up. An engine with 750 miles on it is broken in. Tow whatever you wish. Change your oil before you go.

Do you re-torque anything on engine after break in?

Most oil pan and valve cover gaskets are over torqued which distorts them. Install them with some sealer on both sides and finger tight the fasteners plus a half turn more. Then let them set up overnight. Seldom leak.

? about doing your own body work - recomendation for NE based Scout specialist

There are lessons to lear about pounding out dents, removing rust, swtopping rust, priming, painting, and more. Helps to have a knowledgable friend to help/teach you. But it is not impossible. TRhere are some books and videos advertised in Hemmings. Might be a good investiment.
