Default No spark please help!!!!!!

okay little bit of back ground im 17 take auto tech at ctc i start uti (automotive scool in nc) in 6 months i have a 74 scout it originaly had a 345 with a holly points dizzy over my christmas break i did a motor swap with a 345 from a 78 scout with a prestolite pointless dizzy
okay so aware i needed sometype of module to pulse the dizzy i installed a msd digital 6 ignition box that i bought used
okay so got everything in and ready to go spin over i get nothing i check the spark at the 1st cylinder plug with a spark tester nothing there so then i check it from the coil nothing
i fiddle around with wires try again nothing
okay ive got a good ground to the motor mount
iv got continuty every where so the wiring should be good
okay i do msd test to where you tap trigger wires together and hold hot coil wire close to the intake i get a spark on the intake this ensures the box is working and that the coils should be good well for ****s and giggles i take it to the parts house convience them it was bad and swapped for a new one msd blaster 2 by the way
pkay so new coil do the test get a bigger spark put it all together no spark
so since i can tap the trigger wires together "wires to dizzy" and get a spark out of the coil this means problem should be in the dizzy i pulled it out installed a pertronix kit sanded contact points real good to ensure ground also grounded from the base of the pertronix kit to the dizzy housing
put it all back in wire it up the way msd shows to wire to a pertronix kit "for some reason its wired like a points system??"
get it all ready to go . . . . nothing
so i know the coil is good
the pertronix kit is new so signal from dizzy should be good
plug wires are all new
cap is new
rotor button new
msd is putting out good when i test it
all the wires have tripple checked connections
timing is mildly off but should still spark and start "cant set till it runns"
i have been trouble shooting this thing for 2 weeks im so far beyond stumped and iv sunk alot of money into this thing and im ready to be able to have it as my daily again so please help if you can

-Mmmmmkay,
~gets out onto on a limb~

---Have you tried more than one wire to verify spark?

---Pull the cap off and make sure the rotor is spinning while someone cranks the engine or while using a remote switch to crank. If not spinning, I would suspect a broken dizzy shaft or drive gear.

---If it is spinning, hold the coil wire (with a good pair of insulated pliers or while someone else operates the remote switch) 1/4"-3/8" from the center tab on the rotor while cranking. If you have spark here, figure out what is wrong with the center terminal on the dizzy cap, cause that is where you're losing spark. It's grounding to the shaft somehow.

---Test the secondary coil circuit to verify the coil is good, as well as grounds to the coil, module and distributor/block. As I have always said, it doesn't matter what ignition is installed, it is only as good as the vehicle wiring, namely the grounds.

The PRESTOLITE distributor is an integrated unit, it has the modual inside the distributor, hook the red wire to the coil + and the brown wire to the coil -, let the white wire swing in the breeze, give the coil + full system voltage and it should work, you don't need the MSD with a Prestolite.

---I am led to believe it is pertronix... unless I am reading that wrong, which happens at times.

---Hope we can help you resolve the issue quickly. I hate to hear of someone losing any amount of money, especially wasting on parts... which is why I went with a known reputable ignition company rather than a fairly* new one. I couldn't afford to waste money either. Whether it be from non-failure or out of embarrassment, no one ever comes back to say "My pertronix failed x times over the last x years so I bit the bullet and bought a x dizzy", so we will hope it's because of quality workmanship... and if not in your case, because of quality technical support. If a good company, they'll work with you regarding warranty/return.

---Try this as well.

---The best thing to do in all cases, including with your home computer, is to refer to manufacturer first.

---Yep, steadily between $100 & $120 for an internal ignition module & stator assembly. $80 for a Pertronix. It's well understood. I think most of the plugs on the board are because of the price, but as I said, as long as your ignition has a bad ground, it doesn't matter what system it is, it's going to suffer a premature electro-fate.

---We'll keep our fingers crossed that it isn't the case and what you have is a disconnected internal (-) or loose connections... maybe even an insufficient charge in the battery.

---MSD has had a few cases over the past 10 or so years, where a whole 1-2 years worth of modules had to be recalled because of faulty components. Those who have the sponsor's gofastickers at the race track and get free components because they sold their *** to get the gofastickers, where who experienced it most and caused the capturing of attention. Don't be surprised if you find the street application box/coil is bad and even though you swapped out, the next is bad as well... and no one knows the better, nor are they told.

---Test, always test.

---Do you have a manual or set of manuals for your vehicle year model yet?

OK I'll admit that I have never fooled with a Pertronix or MSD ignition parts but this really sounds like a mismatch between the distributor and MSD. Do you still have the points dist? Try installing that and see what happens.

Then figure out whats different between the siginal from points (breaking the ground) and the siginal from the Pertronix.

Do you have a multimeter? Do you have wiring diagrams?

Also, some capitals and punctuation will make your questions and other pertainent info easier to read.
