Midnitestar Found!

I got a "tip" last week that a local salvage yard had a rare Scout. He said it had louvers over the rear windows and it had some kind of star name or something. He said it belonged to the son of the owner. So I called the salvage yard and talked to the owner. He wasn't real sure what truck I was talking about, but he thought it belonged to his son and said he would not sell. I was a little discouraged, but decided I needed to run out there in person to see the truck and give the owner my name and number if he ever wanted to sell. When I got to the salvage yard they pointed me in the direction of the Scouts they had. I did not see any "rare" Scouts. So I asked the son point blank about the Midnitestar. He pointed me in the right direction. I walked up the hill and saw it sitting amongst a bunch of cars in the yard. I think I heard angels singing at this point. It is a real Midnitestar and all the Goodtimes/CVI stuff was there, except the hood scoop. I talked to the owner and told me what he needed out of it and I quickly agreed to the price. I went out there this morning and picked it up. The son mentioned to me that he knows a guy that has the original hood scoop and he would be willing to sell it. So, if that deal goes through I will have all the original Goodtimes stuff for the truck.
There are some rust issues, but I have dealt with worse. The unbelievable part is that this thing sat in their salvage yard for 3 years and no one took anything off this truck, it's all there! I can't wait to get started on the restoration.

That TerraStar is bada$$! Funny thing is, is that my birthday is in 10 days. I picked up the truck today, I was driving home and I called the wife to tell her the good news and she sang Happy Birthday to me! Funny Scout things must happen around birthdays.
