o.k. time for some good news! Once I finally was able to get the command prompt changed to the correct folder I was able to run aldltobin successfully!!!!!!!!!! Now for a dose of reality. I have the new file and also the one you sent me and tuner cat won't open either one... So that is the one problem I have currently to decipher.

I'm trying to keep the ball rolling but tuner cat might shut me down!!

Are you just double clicking the file, or are you using the File > Open menu commands in Tuner CAT?

Well I finally got the files in tunercat, Problem was I wasn't seeing the file above in the blue bar when I tried to open it. Plus I wasn't opening it through tunercat I was going straight to the file and then it would not open...
Now I just need to figure out everything else it only took a day and a half to figure this out along with the aldl program!!!!!! I think it's time for a break!!!

Thanks to all that helped!!1

Ok. So I have never used dos before and it is showing. I have spent 4-5 hours attempting and reading how to use aldltobin. I read and reread post 2 on this thread, info in the FAQs,the read me file in aldltobin, and every other thread on the topic. I have no idea what I'm not doing to get it to work.

I have all the files on my thumb drive as recommended.

This is what I am getting on my dos screen.

Thanks

The problem is you have the files in the aldltobin directory but you did not us the cd aldltobin to change to that directory.
If you moved all the files to the main directory of E then it would work.

So look at post 2 again and use the CD/aldltobin
Then your prompt should show
E:/aldltobin
Then type the same thing in as you had before.

Bill, that just made my day. I knew it was something simple. I copied all the files to the main directory and it worked. Thank you sir!!

keep in mind that you should not keep using this once the fuel is close.
You will end up being too lean on the 90-100 map areas since those should be lower AFR then the closed loop 14.7:1.
That's why I spend the time manually smoothing the tables once they are close.

it's a little confusing when your just starting out.
That's why I give the basics of chip adjustments and mention that I try to tune for about 126-127 BLM and if you log data in the 100map column then you are probably too lean and need to manually smooth the 90-100 columns richer.

You should also manually smooth the entire table after the first correction so all the columns and rows are evenly spaced in the table.
Keep in mind that if you didn't log data in a cell then it won't move so it needs to be manually adjusted to match the cells around it.

When done post up the file and we can take a look.

I've loaded the new file into Tunercat and it does have some peaks and valleys. I am reading up on manual smoothing now. I see a couple obvious places, but I'm not sure where to begin.

Make sure you have the graph view or combined table graph showing.

I always have the BLM table opened in a small window so I can keep it onscreen with the VE table I'm working on.
Just drag the windows edge so they can sit side by side.
Then look at the BLM number for a cell.
Take 40 at 1200rpm.
If it is above 128 then you know that when aldltobin made it's adjustment it had to increase the VE table to make it more rich.
Remember that above 128 is lean and below is rich.

So the number at 40 and 1200 went up. If the cell at 40 and 800rpm did log data then the cell did not change. So you would manually increase that cell so that the graph looks even.

You do that with any cell not logged.

For the smoothing once the basics are done just look at the BLMs to see which way the cells should move and make minor adjustments to lower the peaks and raise the valleys till all is smooth. Just grab the line and move it up or down.
Then burn the chip and log more data.

Well, I just took a stab at making the graph look smooth. I didn't alter the "new" file, so if what I did was wrong, I can always start from the same spot.

This is the corrected file from aldltobin

This is what I did with it.
