The SD engine uses big ol' Model T Ford-era mushroom-type head solid lifters, i.e., lotsa cam/lifter friction, which is where the lack of ZDDP is hurts. Are we still relying on Rotella T for ZDDP or adding concentrate? (He snivels, he whines) Man this is a double whammy--lose suphur lubricant in diesel fuel and the zinc lubricant in crankcase oil. It's a conspiracy, I tells ya...somebody in the Gummint hates Scout diesels along with the aliens ...Eddie

I like my Rotella 15w-40. Mostly cuz I don't like money and I love paying for the 3 gallons of it that I dump in there every 4000 miles.
