We only made it to URE once last year, early Oct, and it was great! The trails were trails and not the gravel roads a lot of folks seem to think they should be!

Glad to hear your 360 is purring bro!

Guilty as charged Bill! After the Moss "got the treatment" (still running your last tune) life took a wild turn... son got license, wrecked my old DD (I've been driving the towrig for *months* ), repaired the car, found a replacement DD for myself, lost several months hunting whitetail, and went thru 3 regime changes in my management chain (a 1.5years of 60+ hour weeks)...

BUT, I'm back & hope everyone is doing good?

I did have to change the air cleaner "clocking" to get the air horn to clear the radiator support rod. The metal ring between the tbi and the air cleaner has a tab i chiseled off and rewelded to change the "clocking". I don't have any photos I may try to get some and post them. I used alot of spacer because I had clearance problems with the AIC connection and space for adjusting the TPS.

Sheldon, we wanted to use the Jeep air cleaner, but after pondering it for an hour last, were able to mock up the 4.3 air cleaner just fine. It looks WAY cleaner than Jeeps (5 different hoses, vac pods, etc) and appears to clear the hood just fine. With the 3/4" DIY adapter, we have several inches of clearance (sans plugs/wire) to the valve cover. Any chance you have some pics of component placement?

We didn't get much done today... Since last night, did engine/tranny/rear axle fluid changes & reinstalled the mufflers the PO hacked off the Mustang. We did run down a few small things that were missing (knock sensor, 2wire EST connector, & some fasteners), & Tater (my brother) removed a few remaining items & installed the fuel pump blockoff, and continued to discuss layout (I'm leaning towards a cut/solder/heat shrink scenario, because he just doesn't have the room to back pull/bundle the "extra" 7' of harness!).
He took the adapter home to finish a couple holes & will blend the bores tomorrow... while I undertake a heater core in the Foxbody

I found that by the time you tailor each wire down to the right length it doesn't leave many. So I normally just cut the harness and do them all.
Just make sure to heat shrink each when done.
If you put all the slices inside the cab it will cut down on problems with water.

Hi Dave,
I took some pics today for you. I mounted the Map EGR filter and ignition modual on the valve cover, comp in the glove box,The Temp sender in the place that my CTO switch was mounted. In your photo it looks like yours is in your manifold. I didn't get the knock sensor out of my 4.3 and I am kicking myself for it. I tried the resistor trick but it didn't work for me. I also had to change the air cleaner "clocking" to avoid hitting the radiator support rod.

Coincidentally, we're thinking of mounting the majority of the "peripherals" (EST/ESC/MAP... EGR will be "deleted") on the valve cover and the coil near the stock location. I guess the difference is due to year model... with the later years being gagged with emissions junk like the heated manifold & 90 miles assorted vacuum lines?

They're only $30... Don't kick too hard/long!

I haven't looked *real* hard, but didn't see a hole for the KS...

Dave,
Glad to help/share ideas. I like to see other rigs and they're solutions. for the KS. I was thinking about drilling a hole in the fuel pump block off plate, or tying it up into the wiring harness and just grounding it to the block with a wire. The old coil bracket makes a good fuel pump bracket. good luck!

Hi Bill,
Sad to say My project has been put on hold till spring. My wife has been having her hips operated on. The last one at Christmas. with two kids 4 and 7 that leaves little wrench time. Also the detroit locker does not mix with the snow covered roads well. I made my cable and looking for a lap top. I have been reading post but my knowledge is somewhat limited. Besides you are sooooo good at typing " didn't you read the FAQ's ". This IS the only 4x4 forum I am a member of. I will post if I can help someone, or update my project. Now stop hijacking Dave's thread or I'm going to tell MOM.

So true. That's why I wrote them.
I see no reason to have to retype everything when the basics are all there.
I may not be the best writer but I think they are pretty easy to follow if someone just reads them.
