And the cam bearings were tossing little slivers of metal at us too... lol. So I dropped off the crank, head, block, pistons off at NAPA today. Won't beable to get to them until next week, but that gives me time to research some other parts. waterpump, clutch, oil pump, timing chain, and alittle bigger cam/lifters/springs. Would like for this thing to have 150hp when done. lol.Chris

Can't you add a jeep 4.0L intake and MPFI setup? I seen some 4.0l at u-pull in J-ville and seem like pretty easy fuel injection upgrade better than TBI! I didn't price them but can 't be that much for everything.

Ah yes...engine rebuilds. I just had my 345 rebuilt last summer. It was a good investment. The parts were not that hard for the builder to find. He did an amazing job. I am looking forward to driving it. One day...when I get back home.
Keep up the work! Post lots of pics. |

![]() Chris I would look into if you can do the jeep MPFI swap! Make more power and better MPG.

Thanks, yea I thought about that. But I think for the simplicity and sake of finishing the build, I'll probably stay carbed for now. It's got a carter carb that's got plug-ins and vacuum lines all over it, the intake manifold is alluminum and the exhaust has an o2 sensor in it.. of which none of the stuff is plugged up. lol. I'll post pictures of it here in a few. Just trying to get everything cleaned up and right before it goes back in. Thanks again for any insight or comments.
Chris

Just thought I'd post an update. The machine shop is done with the block (bored .030) and crank (turned .010) and has ordered the master rebuild kit and is looking into the head. We can't find anything on what it's deck height(?) is to see if it's been cut before and how much. He said it's going to take .015 to straighten it out, so I need to find out. Just don't wanna spend money on a head that won't clear the pistons. lol. But then again, don't want to buy a new head when I have one that will work... I posted up a question over at theamcforum.com too see what they had to say. So hopefully all goes good and can start throwing this thing together next week!!
BTW: Found a guy that's willing to sell a fresh rebuilt head for $100, but it's 8933002 casting number, anyone know if it'll work? Chris

Well, looks like my head is trashed... Would be .099 worth of cutting. Did find some decent priced reman heads though, so will be ordering one up next week. Picked up all the stuff from the machine shop. Crank turned .010 and block bored .030. Got the crank in and torqued down. They had one tight wrist pin they're working on, but got all the other pistons. lol. Looking for a cam/lifters and then order my head. Can't wait!
