Quick update: I realized I cannot move forward with the scout until I fix the darn Powerstroke. Great when it runs but boy do I hate working on that thing! Thanks for all the input so far. Does anyone know a good place to find a re-seal kit for the T-19 and transfer case? Happy 4th to all!

As you can see from my sig I have fixed the Scout support vehicle but I just found out I won't have my replacement engine until Sept- Oct. This is going to cut it close on my winter completion, but we'll see. I guess I will have to start on rebuilding brakes and other things. It all works out, I've got pressure from the city to clean up my yard, so I can spend some time on that. Seems silly, there are drug dealers running around shooting each other and the city wastes time bothering a guy with a few dead diesels in his yard. No wonder Oakland is broke!

Simple explanation... They can give you a ticket and get some money from you, but it's a lot harder to get at the drugdealers...

Hello all! Things are progressing at a snails pace, but progressing none the less. I have gasket kits for the drivetrain and the re-sealing process is going well. If anyone has any junk around I am looking for a few things. At some point the front U-joint on the rear driveshaft blew up and mangled the two yokes. I suppose I could use them but would rather not. I can get them new but that's a big chunk of coin that could be used elswhere. Also, I have given up looking for the Rockford style pressure plate. I had my local parts guy cross the Napa #'s and do a mass search across the country: no luck. I am not on friendly terms with my local Napa, nobody there even knows what a Scout is! So now I am looking for re-buildable core. Any help and suggestions are welcome! Thanks again for all the support.

It has been a couple of years now since I got my clutch kit from NAPA, so it could be that they don't stock that part anymore, but I was on best of terms with my local franchisee and he couldn't locate the part by crossing either until I gave him the part number to look for. If I recall correctly, I found the proper NAPA part number in the FAQ or in one of Carrey's posts. It is indeed the same clutch as the gasser scout, but something about the whole Kit having a different part number from just the pressure plate or some such detail made it difficult to locate in the inventory database. I think that you need to order the kit plus a throwout bearing.

Hope this helps. If neccesary I might be able to dig out the box or the part number from my notes, but I think that the info that you need is on the BB somewhere.

Wow it's been awhile. All is well, I've been working on a fuel system upgrade for the F-250. Sucks having to do things in stages cause you can't afford to buy all the gadgets you need at once. I got the trans/transfer re-sealed and painted, then tucked away in the poor rotting beast in the back. I'll take some pics to post soon. I am planning to start my brake renovation with a hydra-boost conversion and work my way down from there, flushing and bleeding each caliper/wheel cylinder as I rebuild/replace them. Hopefully soon my work schedule will allow me to travel up north to fetch my engine, permitting I complete the upgrades to the pickup sometime soon. Can't afford to travel unless I'm using free fuel!

Cheers! and happy new year everyone! Let the new decade bring us prosperity!

Hi,

Since it wasn't clear from your post whether you got the clutch done or not, I thought I would let you know that I just went through the process again and struggled to figure it all out. I haven't had a chance to write it all up yet but if you have any questions definitely ask. There are some holes in what you can read on the board.

In short - Ft. Wayne clutch has best deal on reman. For new Advance Auto Parts sell the same new Rockford style as NAPA for less. No core charge. Order the 11" for 4 cylinder gas scout. I called the clutch manufacturer, it is the same clutch they sell for the v8 for ~100 buck more. Use the old throwout yoke and make sure the clutch disk tucks into the recess on the flywheel (faces the right way.)

I am on great terms with my local NAPA store, and it is still hard to get a good quote a clutch kit. Their computer database is entirely centered on what application you have, but the data about what fits what is not very good.

Hey David, thanks for the clutch info! That is going to be the next big ticket item to track down when I have some spare cash. Also, thanks for reminding me to brush up on Trevan Bakers post, lots of good info there, particularly the pump mod. Kinda strange how these things come in groups, I have been working on lots of Benz pumps these days so I might as well do the Kiki too while it's all fresh in my mind.

Alot going on here, got a hydra-boost at the JY last month, been slowly working on getting it mounted. Got a little busy workin on the powerstroke so I could take a run up to Port Townsend, WA and picked up my replacement engine in Winston, OR on my way back. 1800 miles in three days! I'm pretty proud of myself but my aching body is paying for it. Got some pics, will have them up soon.
