How common is it to use stainless steel on the rust prone areas?

Never mind, I found one

Looking for an 80/800 in restorable shape. I'd like to trade my 83 F100 if possible. Willing to travel anywhere in VA, WV, MD or NC, but I need to be able to drive the Scout back to Richmond.

I'm looking for a functional tailgate that will fit my L model pickup. I was told R&S models will work as well. The truck is butt ugly so I don't mind if the tailgate matches as long as it will open and close. Please PM if you can help.
Thanks, Dave

Went and looked at a Scout in Barboursville Saturday, it's a '73 with 63,000 Miles on it, the current owner picked it up recently out of a barn whee it had been for the last ten years, it starts and runs, It's an 8, but I'm not sure if it's a 304 or 345. It's got a 4 speed, and Dana 20, and the cleanest rockers I've seen on an unrestored Scout II. The top and floor boards in the front look great too, all glass is intact, and the interior looks pretty decent (Buckets and rear bench).

The bad; Windshield frame doesn't look so good, the rear quarters and end caps are pretty bad, the rear floor has been repaired, and the tailgate has a line of rust thru on the inside.

If it doesn't sell, he'll be scrapping it before long (He didn't actually say when).

Sorry I didn't get more pics, I should have taken some shots of the whole truck.

If anyone wants contact information for Roy, PM me and I'll get you in touch with him...

Looks like a relatively unmolested specimen. Did Roy have an asking price, or is he entertaining all offers?

(Just curious; I do *not* need another Scout right now! )

$800 was what he offered it to me at, but he was also entertaining offers, I would have taken it, but I also don't need another scout right now.

The Above mentioned Scout has been sold, the guy who bought it will be making a pure wheeler out of it, and will be putting up the travel top for sale, It's in great shape, with just a few spots of surface rust, I'll try to get pics and a price up tomorrow.

Yeeeah, still kind of in denial about that one.
