Default Window disassembly

The guy at the paint shop has requested that I remove the windows and the wing windows. Anyone have a brief tutorial on the easiest way to do this? I have an extra door, and am considering a dissection, but would appreciate the 2 cents worth......thanks......Mitch

Inner door skins off, remove the bolt which holds the wing window frame, then at the front of the door there is 2 holes, using a 1/4 drive rachet set remove the 2 bolts - be careful not to let them drop, then lift the wing window frame out of the door, then wind down the glass and remove the 2 clips on the mechanisim at the glass, lift out the glass - you may have to remove the wind seal rubbers at the top of the door to get it to clear.

The wing window bolt on the door skin side is under the chrome button on the door above the trim just near the vent window catch.

OK, dumb question here–what's the best way of popping the chrome button off/out without destroying it?

Two micro-flathead screwdrivers is what I use to manipulate it off, use some papertowels to avoid marring the paint. I dont have anything that one could actually mar the paint on just yet, but I thought I would throw that in because I realize not everyone drives beater Scouts like I do.

I just jab a screwdriver in there - mines beat to hell anyways.

Be careful when you pull the circular clips off of the window itself. I broke 3 of them, one coming off, two going on. (I have a knack for it I guess)

And About the window felt - be gentle pulling the glass up if you decide to leave it in. I destroyed the only good strip I had because I forgot it was there.

Get a mirror and look at those circular clips. If you lift the locking tab on top, the clip just slides enough to lift it off the post.

Thank you gentlemen, much appreciated. Is it my imagination, or is there a degree of civility on Binder Planet that was lacking somewhat on the Bulletin?

If you still need any help, IHOnlyNorth has a thread under their tech forums/ parts install where they are installing power windows. It gives you a step by step and pics on how to remove the windows and I think they have a video link showing them doing it.
