Default SOA Rear Shackle Mount

I will probably be flamed for this; however, I would like people’s opinions on this. When performing a SOA; what do people prefer, the rear shackle mount welded to the frame, or the rear shackle mount through the frame such as some of the suppliers offer? I am worried about frame strength at that point. I know people have done it both ways. Is there an advantage to one way over the other? I know this is a complete noob question, but I want to gain the knowledge before I start not after I mess something up.

Your talking about a REVERSE SHACKLE, or RS, not necessarily a SOA or SPRING OVER AXLE conversion.

To separate items, that can be done at the same time, or separately.

For a RS, shackle through the frame can help keep the whole thing lower, i.e. not as much lift from the RS conversion. Strength is not an issue if you use good components and good welding. Under the frame is easier but can tend to add more lift over-all. Performance wise.... wash.

Sorry about that, I’ve been up like 26 hours… Yes I meant a reverse shackle. Thank you for your reply.
