At the rate you work Robert that would be only a few short weeks of work. I could use a good engine block for that 392 that has the scored piston. I will give you a call.

I am spending my weekend stripping the layers of paint off of this turd. It is taking about four coats of aircraft stripper to get to the bottom layer. I finally found a piece of this scout that had NO rust, NO dents, and NO bondo (the hood).

I am almost sick of paint stripper. God I hate this stuff. I hopefully will get to spend sometime doing some sand blast work tomorrow with my small sandblaster. It should clean up the tight areas well.

One step closer!!!

I have been able to get some work done in between other projects and work stuff. I managed to rebuild the winch consisting sandblasting, cleaning and replacing bearings. I epoxied it today in hopes to get it painted tomorrow. Still need to replace the motor for it however. Have not worked much on the scout itself. Need to finish removing the paint from the windshield cowl and then I can move on. Weather is still to cold to do any major paint work on it so I have been waiting.

I still need to come up with the control cables for it but that can wait till it is mounted.

Good info on the Bellview:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=382401

He upgraded to a newer reversible motor by swapping some parts around.

Check with DB Electrical they have a wide assortment of winch motors:

Yeah I actually referenced that post in regards to the Belleview's. Good information there.

Here it is with paint.

New to Scout ownership and new to the board. Went through this whole thread today and I am definitely inspired! I though I had rust but what you started with was scary. I have been waffling back and forth - let it rust more and mudbog it, restore it, sell it. After reading this thread I think I am going to bring it back to life...maybe not to this extent but it is worth saving. Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the good work!

That looks like it SUCKS!
You don't have anybody around that can soda blast that sucker?
Looks like a nice job otherwise.

Yes it does SUCK!! Some people are slower learners than others me being one. I am taking whats left to be stripped and cleaned to the blaster this week. I need to make some real progress so I can start throwing paint.
