Default M-Truck helpful part numbers and parts sources

Here is a thread for posting valid part numbers and parts sources for IHC M-trucks.

Please post what vehicle the part fits, or if it fits all models.

John,
I wonder if everyone is willing to share the sources for work and parts.
I am attaching a sample of the word chart that could be built.
Start with common needed items then let it grow to sources for rebuilding gens, etc.

Default Oil Filter Element Part Numbers

Here is the link to the thread listing current part numbers for oil filter elements for the original M-2-4 and M-5H-6 engines. M-2-4 is post #12, and the M-5H-6 is post #11.

I believe the M-1-4 used the same filter as the M-2-4.

If someone gives me the original part number for the engines used in the M-3-4 (L&H) trucks and the M-5-6 trucks, I can do the same for them.

Got to be careful on ePay, sometimes the parts listed as IHC are for an obscure vehicle, like a K8 dump thats has a 6 volt negitive ground system and uses a sending unit for a 36 gallon tank that only that guage will work with as a matched pair. I learned this the hard way when I bought an NOS sending unit off epay, it would read 3/4 of a tank when full. I did finially figure out the perfect bend in the float arm, and it was a pain in the tookus.
Last week I saw someone buy an nos throwout bearing listed for an M2 on ePay, it closed at $64 dollars after a couple of enterprising collectors bid it up at the end. This bearing probably has dried up grease in it and is worthless, because its a sealed unit, it will be a screamer you can count on it probably two months after you remove the transmission and slide it on with a smile. Just a couple weeks back I took a couple of takeoff throw out bearings down to B&A friction there a clutch shop here in San Jose they pushed off the old bearing and pressed on a new bearing on two for $47 dollars out the door.
Becareful on ebay sometimes rebuilt fresh beats unknown NOS old junk thats been sitting in a mud puddle for 65 years.
I went and looked at the guage it looks like the right type and light tan for the early M2-M3-M5 trucks and the part number looks like a K5-K8 style.
So it may be a good find. Untested as it may be.

Anyone have any leads on internal parts for the M-2-4 transfer case?
