Default Finally

I have been looking for a Scout in my price range (i.e. cheap) for years. Last week I finally hit paydirt. She's a 1971 Scout II with the massive 196 4cyl and 3 speed. Im still working out the bugs on a carb rebuild but she will run. Like everyone else my list of things to do on it is growing but I think this is a good start.

I look forward to reading more from you existing Okie Scouters and maybe one day joining you at an event.

Looks a pretty clean truck, nice platform to start with. What are you going to do with it? Looks like a great truck for daily driver duties.

Good luck!

Mike

First trick is to work out the running problems. When I got it, it would not idle. I rebuilt the carb and now it will idle but will run for a min or so then stall and almost die.

I replaced the plugs and coil last night but when I went to take the condenser wire off the coil, it fell off in my hand (disconnected from the condenser). Hoping that was causing the stall.

It will be a weekend driver/hunting wagon once I get the bugs worked out.

Did you ever get all the bugs worked out on your truck? Hope to see it at the meeting. I'm sure someone has some pointers.

Thank you

I had a set of Cragar directionals on my first truck back when I turned 16. I told myself if I ever got a scout I would find a set. Not the most practical but I like them.
