Tyler my son decided the name Fiddle Stixx would fit good since I am a fiddle player and builder, and also because thats what we felt like saying when we gernaded the cam bearing. I love reading about Roadkill and many other builds. It keeps me going on mine when I see others progress. Maybe this will make sure I keep going on mine. So heres where Im at right now. I pulled the motor and trans. Since its out. I am going to clean up the inside and use the other half a gallon of Herculiner on the inside of the fender wells and fire wall. here is how it looks now.

Glad to see the thread Mike, keep the pictures coming! So your plan is to rebuild your motor? I know there is a guy near Salsbury, NC that has quite a few 4cyl's and cheap! Also, a guy joined SEBA looking to buy a rebuild kit for his 4cyl, it may be a good deal if you split one.

Glad to see you are making progress Mike!! I know you were discouraged when it let go on you because you were so close on being road ready. At least you got to drive it a little before it died.

Looking good Mike! Nothing like having clean space to work in. I love my 4 cyl. and am glad that I've kept it. Pretty easy to work on and tune. I just can't wait to put some propane on mine - hopefully by the end of the year
. Keep up the progress and pics.

I started tearing the old motor down. To see what really went wrong with it. After reading all the stories here on cam bearings going bad, I asumed this was it. Not so sure now. I took the front cover off and expected to find ground up teeth or something, but it was in perfect shape. So Im a little confused. The engine ran good for a minute or two and then it sounded like parts were going to fly out from the top. There was some metal in the pan but from where I dont know yet.
Oil pump?? Here is the pics of the gears.

If you decide to replace the cam bearings. Get the tool for it..Its worth it. 125.00 from Tooltopia.com. Mine went in nice and smooth. Just be sure to put them in the correct spots. they are differnt sizes but are very close in size to each other and will go in wrong without noticing. I have mine almost done. It goes back in truck this comming weekend. Im going to run 1 tooth advanced to see how it works even though it has a 256 cam in it. Pull the crank out to get to cam bearings. I left the heads and pistons in place, pushed them up into the cylinders and tied the rods out of way so they dont flop around. Yours should be easyer. all the bearings were around 145.00. (for a 392)
