I also looked at the gauge and the motor to see if I could modify them to clear somehow. Ive about talked myself out of any of those options.

I remember seeing Isa's kit when it came out a year or so ago and thinking it would work much better for what I was wanting to do. Unfortunately, I bought my motors and switches 3 or 4 years ago...so here I am. I'm 99% sure it will work with my gauges and panel. The only thing I dont know about is the defrost parts. I really want to keep the defrost functioning...but I'm running out of options. I'm going to call Isa tomorrow and talk to him about it.
I might have a couple of extra plastic pieces that you could cap the bottom and try to come in from the side. Might just be a band saw/flexpipe glue-up deal. That is, if I am pictuing your predicament properly. PS I have sent your latch pics to 2 seperate mobil home repair dudes I know, both have 30 yrs in, each so if anyone knows......

The axles are not at the ranch Davis, they are at a friend of mines house out of town. The guy I sold my 67 to that ended up getting it back from. He also has a 196 of mine that I need to pick up and give away to friend or Chris.

I would love to give them to you Chris but I cant, I dont know what ratio is in them STILL.

Davis, are the vacuum wipers on an 800 smaller than the electric ones?

OK...lets go with this story now. You keep saying this "friends" house "out of town". How far "out of town" does he live? 200, 300, 400 miles? Please reveal this info so I will know how far is too far to drive for a buddy in need.

Hey this is getting better than a Discovery Channel "Reality TV show".
Let's see, they already have Pawn Stars, and Ice Road Truckers. So what to name this new series?

BTW: I got the steer shaft mounted. It's really solid and smooth. So if you end up with that elliptical feeling when turning the wheel, here's one possible solution.

August 2012, "the build" begins:

You didnt disappoint. LOL!

Well I was out of town most of the weekend...so I didnt get much done. I do have a few updates. I did some wet sanding and buffing on the dash. There were a couple of lines that were really bothering me. I dont have pics, mainly cause the lines wouldnt show up in a before pic...but I promise they were there. Lol!

I received my ford sway bar bushing to modify for the clutch bellcrank rod:

After cutting it down (it still needs more) I realized that I really need to tear all this junk apart again to get it to fit properly. So I opted for a "now" fix. I'll come back to the bushing in the future. So I wrapped the clutch rod with some adhesive backed rubber weather striping and used a zip tie to help hold it tight:

Then I assembled my rear view mirror and installed. I did used the original glass. It is darkened a little around the very edge, but its kind of senti-mental.

I mentioned earlier that I had a shift knob off sport top 800 that I got from Stu. These are cool cause they have the T-18 shift pattern on them. This one was somewhat wore, but the shift pattern was still visible. So I used an engraver to deepen the shift pattern, then painted it the same white as Goldie. I took this shot before I sprayed it with clear. I couldnt get any of the pics, after the clear, to show the shift pattern.

And pics of shifters, boots, etc all put together.

My Isa wiper conversion kit is supposed to be in tomorrow! So that will probably be the next to be installed.

Weekend work update pics:

Low horn sanded painted and mounted. Thanks again Sheri!

I received my electric wiper conversion from Isa. Its pricey, but has everything you need and solved my dash panel conflict problem.

The kit comes with some cool stainless wipers. Not an exact replica of the originals, but close enough for me. Here's a comparison pic:

Ask me if I was nervous about the time I took these pics.

But it all turned out great. Nothing fell and no damage was caused. Cage is back in, I didnt bolt it down yet since it has to slide back to get the dash in.
