Default KB Metro Hubcaps & Emblems

KB-3 dome hubcaps seem to come in two styles... 1) plain dome with the triple diamond embossed logo ... and 2) the same logo but with two rings embossed toward the outside. Anybody know in which case/year each of these were used.

Also...

My two Metros have two different front emblems. My 48 KB-1 Metro has a basically flat triple diamond logo surrounded by red in the shape of a rounded rectangle. My, what I think is a 49 KB-3 Metro, has a 3D triple diamond logo with no surrounding color. What years are these emblems used for?

Thanks

I'm not strong on the K/KB years, having never owned one My data points: The enamelled emblems were definitely used on the D series through '40, and the cast plastic filled emblems were definitely used on the L series. In between ???

This is the emblem Jim is talking about. This is the "old style" tiple diamond logo found on early IH trucks up through the K series.

The flat "no back ground" emblem above was more typically found on K's and with "background" emblem seen more on the KB's. Who know's what has been swapped out over time. FWIW, I have never seen a backgrounded emblem on a K truck, only the KB's.

i don't know much about much, but it looks like there is a transition from the 'red enameled background' logo to the style on my K1M to the newer KB1M style.

The KB1M style is clearly shown here:

i'll look at the 3 hub-caps i have at home tonight and report back ...
but i'm most certain mine are the K1-style like Stevidas was selling a few years back.

cheers

Interesting... so there are 3 different types of triple diamond hood emblems. If we assume Geoff's is the earliest being on a 46 K-1-M, which came next?... the flat red enamel, or the one on my KB-3-M that has more relief with the swept back "International"?
