Default Scout 80 light switch

What is the box thing hanging off the light switch? Is it a fuse of some kind? I'm talking about the two terminal thing attached to the back where the main power comes in.

Thanks. Is it replaceable if it blows? What's the amp rating?

It is a self reseting thermal circuit breaker typically 20-30 amps. The value should be stamped into the metal housing, although that is not always true. They do wear out over time and will start tripping lights off then when it cools off they come on again, I had another vehicle that did that and replacing the thermal breaker fixed it.

I have a 30 amp breaker I'm about to install in mine. Anyone think this is too high? I haven't checked the amp draw on the head lights, but if I remember correctly, it's around 20 - 25 amps. So, I guess what I'm really asking is....Does anyone here think the 62 scout 80 wiring CAN'T handle 30 amps in the headlight circuit?

By the way, my wiring is stock, but in very good condition....

This circuit breaker protects all the lighting circuits, not just the headlights.
kingben, you'll be fine with a 30A breaker.
