Default And...

it will be daylight while we are there. Even better, it may be sunny! I still squint when I go outside. Too many months of overcast drizzle.

Yeah, this weekend's weather has me itching to take the top off for a few months. But without a roll bar to support a bikini top, I will have to wait until more stable weather. Not unlike Dan, the all-weather bikini top man.

Anyone have a sport bar and/or a bikini top for a Scout 2 for sale?

Stay away from the 'stock' bars. They attache to the wheel wells. If your scouts are like mine, the wheel wells arent the strongest part on the truck. THe smitty bilt bar is only like 135 and attach to the floor and the bolts go through floor supports.

Post Back to topic, the meeting.

Ok, enough about bars. Start a new thread

The meeting. We will be having a special treat Thursday evening at our meeting.

Greg Foster has put together a slide presentation of the Tulip Festival fun, AND a retrospective of last year's summer fun at Roundup, and the Antique Powerland Truck Show to help gear up for Summer!

Thanks Greg and Mike!

We will also cover the May 10 Car Show at PER in Portland, and also go over final plans for the Central Oregon Trail Retreat at the end of this month.

Possible Guest Speaker, but don't count on it. Jack has been trying to get a rep from REI to come out, but evidentally, we aren't "green enough" for them or something.

Keep on Binderin',

John

Default REI

I talked to REI about coming to the Christmas meeting as a vendor, but they said that since they were an outdoor sporting goods store, and that we were a truck club, it did not make sense for them to come. I reasoned that since we are a truck club with mostly 4x4s, and that most of our members went camping, hunting, fishing, or did something outdoorsy on some of our outings, that what they sold was of interest to most of our members. They could not follow my logic, and declined. GI Joes was just flat not interested.

I was reading on a post on the pirate about how REI has given lots of 4x4 clubs the cold shoulder. Some of them won't even shop there as they sponser the Sierra Club. Either way I think it is a lost oppertunity for them. I really like REI, they sell some really good gear, but apparently they don't like me!

Makes me consider burning my REI membership card. And Sportsman's Warehouse just recently opened a HUGE new store here in Salem, not far from GI Joe's. Guess I'll just drive right on by GI Joe's from now on. They apparently don't want my business either.

Interesting how incidents like this can shape one's perspective on things. Or maybe I should say "enlightening."

I have one word for y'all.

Cabela's

Best place for the "outdoorsman" to get his stuff.

And they don't cotton to the Sierra Club or any other "greenie" poo as far as I know.

Keep on Binderin',
