The back up light switch is part of the neutral safety switch. To access it on the 800 you need to remove the large housing surrounding the shifter. The switch itself is attached to the shifter.

In addition to Nick's information, here is an 800 wiring diagram showing the back up light circuit from the switch to the lamp (indicated by a heavy black line).
