Default '62 Scout 80 - What were the front end option

Trying to help someone determine what front end they may have on a 1962 Scout 80. It isn't local so it is hard to get a look at it. The mechanic that has it says it needs a new front differential. The line ticket, where it can be read, says 4.27 gear ratio and "FA-14 front driven axle." What could be on this vehicle as standard?

your mechanic doesn't know???
why did he say the front differential needed to be replaced?
Is it the ring, pinion, carrier, axles, housing, etc????
the seals and bearings done by a competent shop specializing in setting up axles should do it fairly cheaply and on hte fly with the parts they have on hand.
costs lots from the pikers, the real guys take less than an hour and about <100 bucks for parts
for new differential pinion and carrier bearings, set-up, and reseal.
Then there's the outers...

I haven't talked to the mechanic at length. He just said it was seized up and needed to be replaced. So, the going consensus sounds like he should have the Scout towed to a better, more competent axle shop and they can handle it.
