I own a 1978 Scout II..(Stock) I am doing a ground up and need advise. I want a custom draglink and tierod. I need an evaporator core, condenser, and an expansion valve. I am also in need of a new radiator, a brushed aluminum or custom job is fine.. I also need a new steering box. Can anyone help me with any of this. Thanks, Jason

I think Backcountrybinders makes a sweet stainless drag link and anythingscout makes a sweet gusseted z link.

as for a an aluminum radiator, Northern makes a nice American made model but it will cost over $250,, (less then a new brass one no doubt). Griffin makes a nice aluminum radiator that is very popular even with guys who race (over $400, may take a while to get). lots of people use less expensive radiators from Summit, Afco and other lesser know brands. There are many threads on the subject if you do a search.

As for the pulleys you can always have them blasted and powder coated or chromed. Tim Potter has been doing a lot of upgrades and chroming send him a PM and see if he know more. (if you do a search you can drule over the 345 he is building). If you want to do it your self you can blast them or brush them and paint them.

if you are truly doing a total restoration I strongly suggest you pick up a parts rig or two. It should not be a problem to find a roached stock 1977 or two with similar specs to what you want to build. When I built mine I had 5 parts rigs at various times and never paid more than $200 for each. Leave one rig alone to use as a template for putting your restored rig back together when you are done. Good luck.
