Default Diesel Tech Seminar at Nats 2006

Friends and fellow Dieselers,

Announcing the first Diesel Hootenanny and Wrench-A-Thon at the 17th annual Nationals show in Springfield, oIHo.

After visiting fellow Diesel Scout owner Mark Gilliland recently we came up with an idea for the show. We will attempt to gather as many Diesel Scouts as we have room for in one area, ideally in one of the open buildings south of the main building. The idea is to get as many Diesel folks together to share information, problems, fixes, etc.

It has always been difficult to do "hands on" type projects at the regular Q&A type Diesel seminars held in the main building, but this group setting should allow many addtional possibilities for participants.

I will be bringing some equipment along such as an electronic timing meter, compression tester, and whatever else I can find room for. Need your valves adjusted, or timing set? Just bring your Diesel Scout to the show. If you have a problem you need help with let me know ahead of time so I can bring any special tools needed.

As usual any Diesel powered vehicle or engine is welcome regardless of size or make. If you have a Scout or other IH vehicle that has been re-powered with a Diesel engine you are encouraged to come and join us. Bring your tractor, truck, bus, or whatever else you have.

Besides the "Hootennanny" and get together there will be the usual Diesel Q&A, schedule TBA.

Some Discussion items will be:

ULSD and Alternative fuels

Preventative Maintenance

Common problems and fixes

There will be prize drawings just for Dieselers.

If there are any additional suggestions for topics please let us know. There is no additional cost to participate so make plans now to attend. I would like to get an idea how many will be there, so please let us know if you are coming.

I am still looking for a performance run (drag strip) for the sd33's to show off the modifications done to improve the IH Dogs.

Sounds great. I plan on driving my Mercedes diesel powered Wagonmaster to the show which runs on cooking oil and has propane injection so that topic could also get covered. MIke

Eldon,

Me and Melissa will be there. I am interested in getting a diesel and could definitely learn some things. Marlon, if you are going to be there, could you bring some pics of the '79 Midas with you? I will contact you in the morning about this as well. Thanks for the posting Eldon and I look forward to dieseling with all of the binders there.

Great! I have a 1980 Traveler SD33T and would love to have you take a look at it. I am not a good wrencher but I am learning to be a good dieseler.

This sounds like a great opportunity. I thank those providing this tech training.

I sure hope I can make it to Nats on the right day.

Still working on contacting shippers and finalizing loading times, but I *should* be able to make at least a day of Nats this year. (no Binders this time, I'm going to be coming through in the big truck in the middle of a work trip). If I'm around when the diesel tech deal is held, I'm sure I'll attend.

I'll be there Friday and Saturday. The diesel Scout will be there if I can get the wiring in and front clip on... Or maybe I can just trailer it the two miles.
