You can route along the left fender and firewall down the right fender down to the starter and cover the wire with plasic loom. (colored or black)

Put a remote solenoid up on the firewall where it is convenient. Then the only wire you need from it to the starter is the big cable, and all the other wires that used to run down to the starter go to the RS. Eliminates about 2' on each one of those wires. ![]() At the starter, you need a small jumper from the Big terminal to the S terminal. My prefered method is to flatten a copper lug in the vise, pivot it on the big terminal a couple times to mark it, and drill a hole for the S terminal. Then connect it and the cable on the bench, and reinstall the starter, 2 bolts and a nut on the solenoid. Makes starter changes simple, and eliminates all that monkeying with the connections down under the truck by the hot exhaust. A 10ga jumper with 2 rings works too, and I've even crimped 2 rings together in the vice directly.Tie the alternator back to the RS with a 4ga or 6ga cable, and jumper the #2 to the BAT terminal of it. I'd probably leave the MSD out too. I like them, but not enough to spring the coin for one again. And with the Pertronix, you don't need the second wire to the coil + from the IGN of the solenoid, since it should be getting 12v all the time anyhow. Two more wires eliminated. ![]() I guess I'll have to go read the Dash delete post now, since you've piqued my interest. ![]() HTH,

What Will said.
Also while you are at it... put a back of relays in the engine bay, and just run micro wires from switches through the firewall. Cleans up all your wiring when everything is laid out and obvious. |

thanks! that's exactly what i was looking for will. want to cut down on the wiring, but will put the MSD back in if it loses the good cold engine idle quality. saved the rewire info to word so i can easily access it later.

why not run it along the back of the dash, poke it out just to the inside of the inner fender jumble and straight down? you just need to pull it tight against the fender wall so the exhaust stuff doesnt become an issue....
if you want it out of the engine compartment for astetic reasons, i think thats the way to go (thats how mine's set up) .02
