Thanks,
We actually talked about those in another thread and I posted the driver for it.
When they first came out, they did not supply the driver disc and would not work.
Since then i have gotten 3 of the cheap ones to work.

Question Re: How to read and change the program in your GM ECM!

Is there a program that will log data to a Windows Mobile based PDA? My PDA has a serial port, but I have no laptop. I'd hate to lug around a whole desktop with monitor

Hi Bill,

I like how you can run more than one program at a time. I tried running TC with WINALDL tonight but couldn't. It was the free trial one, and I think it was because I might have forgotten to register it

Not ready to fly solo though, but time to start building.

If it comes up with the little registration window then your 30 days has expired.
You will need to remove the program through windows control panel and then reload.

The beginning date for the 30 days is based on the date set in your computer when the program is initially loaded.

Picked up a new programmer a few months ago and so far it's worked fine.

I have been skeptical of the ebay USB programmers since I bought one in the past that said it could program the 2732 chips and I never got a single one to burn correctly.

But my original burner that I have had for almost 10yrs was getting difficult to use since it requires a computer with a parallel printer port. Yah right, find one of them.
So I ended up going to http://www.mcumall.com/ and picked up the GQ-4X. It's a USB only programmer that actually programs the original 2732 EPROM and will also do the 27SF512 EEPROM.

So far it has been 100% and it's much faster than my original Epromer.

You may alos find them on EBay but be careful, lots of the "Willem" programmers on there and not all of them work.

Bill, you're not using the Moates burner anymore?

Sure I do.
The moates burn2 is great but it only burns the EEPROM chips. So if you convert to the 27sf512 it's fine.
But to burn the original 2732 EPROMs you need a different programmer and an eraser.
I have been using the eprommer that is listed at the beginning but it only works with a printer port. When was the last time a laptop was made with one of those.
Even my fairly old desk top doesn't have one.

This new programmer will actually program the old and the new chips.
But you still need the eraser for the old ones.

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie here. I am in the process of sourcing parts for an efi setup on my CJ7 (258). I've been trying doing my homework so as not to ask to many questions. I have a 7747 ecm from a V8. I will need a V6 program installed as well as a V6 limp home chip. My plan was to have someone (Bill??) burn me a modified eeprom chip to get me started. I would modify the carrier. Eventually I will obtain the necessary equipment to fine tune the system myself (still learning).
Am I understanding this latest thread correctly that one can now erase and reprogram the factory chip instead of doing the mods described in the FAQS for the eeprom chips? Initially this sounds like a much simpler way to go.
