Brattain International Trucks, Inc., an Oregon based truck dealership, truck leasing and truck rental company, has offered its support in the relief effort of hurricane Katrina. Brattain International Trucks, Inc. has partnered with the Southlake Foursquare Church in West Linn, Your Neighborhood Coupon Book in West Linn, and Direct Transport of Tigard Oregon, to send two to three 53-foot truck and trailer combinations to Baton Rouge and Abbeville Louisiana. We will be shipping the donations received at the Brattain locations and the donations received by Southlake Foursquare Church to Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge and St. Teresa Church in Abbeville. We are currently collecting goods from the public at seven different donation sites listed below: # Brattain Idealease - 13101 NE Whitaker Way Portland, OR 97230 # Brattain International Trucks - 61 NE Columbia Blvd Portland, OR 97211 # Hands on Demand - 404 S Beavercreek Rd. Suite 234 Oregon City, OR 97045 # Brattain International Trucks - 1150 Hawthorne Ave. NE Salem, OR 97301 # Brattain International Trucks - 1720 Fescue St. SE Albany, OR 97321 # Brattain International Trucks - 1075 International Way Springfield, OR 97477 # Brattain International Trucks - 63120 Nels Anderson Rd. Bend, OR 97701 Once items are collected, Brattain will ship all of the goods to the Southlake Foursquare Church where they will process the goods, palletize them and send them with Direct Transport to our waiting truck and trailer combo. Our first load will leave Brattain Idealease to Baton Rouge on the 13th of September and should arrive by the 18th. Our second to Abbeville, will leave on the 26th of September and arrive October 1st. Check with your donation location to find out the deadline for dropping off donations. I know Salem needs to receive the donations for the first shipment by 6 p.m. this Friday, Sept. 9. And I believe donations for the next shipment will need to be there by Friday, September 23. Acceptable donations are: # Non-perishable goods # New blankets # Diapers # New undergarments # Wrapped Toiletries # Pet food # Basic children's toys # Formula # New back to school supplies *** Please note*** Due to the logistics of shipping used clothing, No clothing will be accepted unless wrapped and new! As of Wednesday September 7, we have filled one 24-foot truck and will begin sorting and palletizing goods for our first trip. The response from the public has been great, but we still need 3 more 24-foot trucks filled with donations to send our first load. If you or anyone you know can donate items or spare even an hour, please drop off goods at one of our seven locations or call one of the following people for details on volunteering: To volunteer for separating and palletizing the goods collected, please contact: Kelly Loper (503) 459-8252 / Mary Jane Davey (503) 657-3045 To donate for fuel expense and/or for all other questions and concerns, please contact: Dan Reichenbach - Brattain International Trucks - (503) 255-1684 x2035 Nora Wilson - Your Neighborhood Coupon Book - (503) 706-7912 |
