Default Here's that quick release anti sway bar

It did cost $60.00 for the pipe and the machine work. I wanted a snug fit so I had the inner piece machined to fit snug in the outer. I used thick walled pipe hoping it wouldn't wear out in the pin hole.
I pre drilled some holes in the right hand tube so after the inner was pressed in I could weld it in place. The part of the inner tube that extended into the left hand tube was machined to fit snug but will still spin inside the left tube unless pinned. On the way home tonight with the pin in place it handled better than ever. Half way home I pulled over and pulled the pin and the differance was like night and day! While we are crawling at Disney May 6,7,and 8th. I will go up the ramp with the pin in and then with it out to measure the differance.

i like the concept. an anti sway bar adds resistance to the springs, not a dead stop tho. it looks to me like, if you add something that has no "give" whatsoever to it, its just a matter of time till it rips the hangers off the frame, bends the springs, destroys the shackles or at the very least, eggs the holes in the "sway" bar. ill be curious to see how it works in the long run. it sure does look alot more attractive than a flat piece of spring steel hangin off the front, lol.

pretty darn nifty! i was hoping it was a traditional sway bar disconnect. i have an addco sway bar coming and hope it makes the freeway drive more stable. guess i'll be able to lose the old flat steel then eh?

A swaybar with no flex may be a bad idea.

I'd be interesed in knowing how the Addco works out.

wasn't someone in the PNW making something very similar and selling on Ebay? I have been thinking of makeing one myself. I will be very interested in seeing the ramp results. Will you also be removing it completly and making a third run at the ramp? I would be interested in all three measurements.

I'll probably not take it off. The idea was to make changes quick while on the trail. I will already be changing from the street wheels and tires to the wagon spoke wheels and offroad tires and that will rob at least an hour away from the fun! Two hours counting the time it takes to put the street wheels back on. They are heavy and while we are putting the street wheels on we will need to take our time so we don't scratch the chrome.
At least if it doesn't work out it is reversable.

I like the concept too, but agree with Cornfedih that it needs some ammount of give to keep it from wreaking havoc on things. Perhaps a small diameter round torsion bar instead of the pipe would permit *some* flex like the stock flat bar does. You can still utilize your quick disconnect pin idea, but instead of placing it in the center, it would be located off to one side where the torsion bar is larger in diameter. Just need to turn down the hex and place it inside some tube and pin it.

The ramp results would be heavily skewed because the new swaybar will not flex like the stocker. A more accurate comparasion would be to establish a baseline using the OEM swaybar and go from there.

what about a torsion bar out of an old mopar if the length is correct. rob the hex cups the bar lived in and devise a pin or ratchet setup for quick release? i recently did adda leaves, shocks , bushings and 1" lift shackles from southwest. it drives a bit on the hairy side i must say.

I just got back from driving it about 100 miles thru town, around curves and on interstate highways at 70- 75 mph. It works perfect! Another of the better changes I have done. Tomorrow it gets a set of 4.09 gears in the rear. And the front set Sunday. Can't wait to see how that Binder engine pulls with these new gears..
