Default 2 bbl Intake Manifold and Carb

Hey Guys,

I am contemplating going back to a 2bbl carb cuz of mileage issues (wanting to drive to California for spring break, at average 2.10/g and mileage of 10 mpg, that's roundtrip fuel costs of $1260! I need an underpowerd POS honda ;P). I was wondering if any of you had parts you wanted to get rid of. Specifically looking for 2 bbl intake manifold for v8 345 (i think it's the same for 304) and a 2bbl carb. Not sure what type of 2bbl to get a hold of but bottom line is that I just sold my old Edelbrock 600 cfm on ebay for $135 and wasn't looking to spend anymore than that to do the conversion. I'm going to hold onto my 4 bbl intake and manifold just cause I'll prolly go back after awhile but for now I think a 2bbl is all I need.

Anyone got anything? Thanks!

Radford Tom

Tom,
Buy a rebuilt 2300 from Advance. With your discount and all it will be only just over ~$100. I had to do almost no adjustments right out of the box (shrink wrap) and it runs great! Before I trashed the tranny I was getting about 15 mpg with 30 and 3.54 rears

I don't know anyhing about this stuff, but aren't there 2bbl to 4 bbl adapters? Meaning is there a way to put a 2bbl carb on the 4 bbl manifold?

Wes, is your truck a 304 or 345? I think Freeride mentioned getting 15 to 16 on his 304 3 speed. I get 10 to 11 mpg on I-81 (4bbl 345).

Ah, I just assumed you meant 30-inch tires.

Now I just need to find a carb.

Hey Wes, is that a Holly 2300? Also, which is better, the 2300 or the Champion 2020? Does it matter?

Well I see both carbs on the advanced website. The champion 2020 is 169 + 30 for core (i'm not giving them my $300 carb for a $30 core charge), which makes the price about $160 to me after discount. The Holly 2300 is listed at $259! screw that lol! What else ya got?

actually I see what's going on. The manifolds for the 304 and the 345 are the same right? This thing lists different carbs for different engine sizes even if they have the same intake.

I see the carb you are talking about. I may have to order that today.

That I'm not sure about... Don't hear much about 4bbl 304's. However, the 2bbl carbs may be interchangable between the two...
