![]() While we are at it, they show there being a left and right hose for the rear (pn Bendix 88273 $28.99). Mine only has one between the hard line from MC and the splitter on the axle that runs hard lines to wheel cyls. ![]() This looks the same as the front hose to my untrained eye, but costs a dollar more. They don't list the length, so that's no help. Napa shows the same hose part number (#33511 United brand $27.49) for the fronts and rear and says they are all 20". Of course, they only list a rear for a 122" wheelbase, what's 3 extra inches? I'm inclined to go with Checker to get Bendix. Will the same hose work for all three locations? I think I'll check with AZ Brake and Clutch tomorrow to see what their prices are, once I get a correct part number. Time to go back to Checker's site to see if they've got hoses for the Scout while I'm at it. Thanks, Jan

Jan on mine I wenty to a hose place and they made me up braided stainless ones. The only problem was the fronts were a pain to tighten because there used regular ends rather than the ones that have the hex for the wrench set back a bit. Um let me explain that better- the hose end has threads to screw in the cylinders on the back of the drums, right behind the threads is the hex part where you put your wrench to tighten the hose. On my 1000 at least ( yours may be different) having the hex right after the threads makes it tough to tighten because you cant get the wrench in because of the other suspension componants, so the originals are extended out 1/2 in to make the hex easier to grab with the wrench, Im sure if my hose place hadnt been cluless they would have put ends on like that. They were about 40 bucks a piece to have fabricated.

Thanks, Andrew. I'll look into that but I'm trying to go cheap here. I really don't want to put any more $$ into the T-all until the Scout is done and I can really get down to business. When I was replacing the shock mount yesterday I noticed the hose is starting to crack and just wanna be safe. I probably will get SS braided ones made for the Sport Top.
How did the multi state journey turn out? I was glad you were able to stop by and show me your beautiful Travelall. ---Jan

Seems to me that when I replaced the hoses on my '68 1100 4X4 back in 1998, I went to the local NAPA store and got the hoses for the '68 1200 series 4X4 truck. They were about 2" longer than the hoses I was replacing. I made a 'stand off' for the driver side like the one on the passenger side to keep the longer hose from draging against the back side of the tire and away from the cotter pin on the drag link.
The local NAPA store will make custom length hoses if you can't find a 'standard' replacement. Just bring in one of the fronts and the rear hose and tell them how much longer you need it to be. It might be a good idea to point out the connector style, just in case! Bill Bennett Torrance, CA |
