Default Need help on a problem about my 544 diesel tractor

I would like to know if anyone can tell me why my Farmall 544 diesel tractor viberates so much. I had a 544 Diesel that was burned in a shop fire so I bought a 544 gas and rebuilt the diesel motor and installed it into the 544 gas. Neither tractor viberated before the switch of the motors. We checked the balance block, the clutch, and the pressure plate. When we rebuilt the motor it was an out of frame overhaul. It was totally dismantled, we ground the crank. The cam had new bearings installed and line bored. We also put in a new water pump and rebuilt the oil pump. We put in a used injection pump with lines from a 884. We had the pump recalubrated for about 55 hp. I can't figure out what makes it vibrate. Again, we put in a used an injection pump on that was recalibrated to about 55 hp. The recalibration was done by a pro who said the rest of the pump checked out okay. The tractor is hard to start when it is cold. We tried the timing-both advanced and retard. The tractor also wet stacks if it does light work or idles a little while.

Can anyone offer me some help?

Thanks:

Default help

Tony,

You said you rebuilt the injector pump. Did you have it calibrated? If you overhauled the injector pump in your shop and didn't calibrate it, that is 99 times out of 100 the culprit.

Please post back with any more information you have about what you have done to this tractor, we will try and help.

Welcome to Dieseltalk

Keep on Dieselin',
