Default Out with the old...

As much as I hated to do it, I had to let go of my trusty old F350. I bought her back in 2004 and she has been a great tow rig for all my IH haul jobs I've had in the past (and some non-IH ones). I never really had any major engine issues, or major mechanical issues in general from her. The clock when I sold her was at 335,000 miles, roughly. She is not going far, just in case i want her back - sold her to a buddy here in town who has plans of his own for the rig. Here she is the day I got rid of her - July 24, 2012 at 6:17 pm - fare the well my pet:

My whole reason for selling was to be able to upgrade to something newer and more capable of towing much larger loads (ie. multiple vehicles). Whenever I had work to be done on my old rig, I had a local guy who runs a side business in diesel mechanics do it (his day job is diesel mechanic at local Ford Dealership). He turned me onto my new acquisition, which turned out to be a deal I couldn't pass up for where I want to head in my long awaited business plan. I picked up this 2006 F350 dually just yesterday and am super stoked about throwing some behind it and fulfilling what I set out to do 7 years ago.

This is an XL model, so basicly it's just like my old truck with no frills - that can be upgraded later. I wouldn't have gotten this model because I really am ready for some creature comforts, but for what this truck does have, I couldn't pass it up. The truck has 125,000 miles on it, the engine...oh, about 2,000 now. That's right - this truck has a brand new short block and all internals, new heads, ARP head studs, Black Onyx 20mm head gaskets, Sinister EGR delete system, SCT Tuner among many other vital new items. It has a little over $14k in the engine alone (parts and labor), and for what I paid, I pretty much got a free truck to wrap the engine in . I've got to obviously make it my own (remove decals - first order of business), and do a couple more upgrades (ie. gauges to monitor it's vitals and exhaust to let her breathe a little better). For now, I'm just happy to have a truck again - felt a little naked there for a couple weeks.

So just a note to all SEBA members, if you need anything hauled, just let me know - my plan is to be 100% legit by end of August, beginning of September. And when I mean legit, I'm talking full-on business with motor carrier number, business insurance, etc. I'm psyched, so stay tuned.

Sweet man! I am digging the new truck (the decals...not so much), glad you found a good replacement. Are you getting a bigger trailer too? You mentioned multiple vehicles, so wasn't sure.

Eventually, yes - 3/4 car wedge is in the future. And whenever i can foot it, the guy I got the truck from has an enclosed gooseneck 2 car hauler as well (for a very reasonable price). I want to be able to provide any means of hauling possible - from junkers to show vehicles. Just going to make it happen.

Congrats Nate, and good luck on your new business venture. Its a dog eat dog world out here as you know, but I am living testament that hard work will pay off in the trucking world. Those decals on the side of that F350 look Corvetteish. Call Goober up at Scoutco , he can give you the hookup on some new skull and crossbones and swords and tribal wraps and other Nate-like decal crap
