Default How come?

How did we end up with a Craigslist ad for our forum header and how do we get rid of it?

There's a drop down button on the top right (under "Display Modes") click that and it will disappear or re-appear.

I have no idea how it got there or who posted it.

Yeah, I minimize/hide it, but it only lasts for that session.

Mac, This is what I see above the HCB forum index, when I enter it:

There is an SSII for sale in San Antonio. Check out Craigslist San Antonio.

http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/bar/2981105152.html

I checked it out. It runs pretty good. Total of about 8" body and spring lift and large tires. He did some work to the floors - pretty heavy metal welded panels around the driver and passenger feet and towards the back but the rest of the floors and body mounts look good. The main rust that concerns me is around the inner front fenders and windshield frame area. The windshield frame has some give. If this Scout had doors, they would surely sag so there is likely rust behind those front fenders and in the firewall that will need repair. The body is great! He said there were very few small dings and such that he had to take care of before he did this home-grown paint job. It's a daily driver around town. It has the original top mechanism for the SSII and other tell-tale signs like the VIN plate on top of the fiberglass door insert on the driver side, etc. This is not a clone - not by my eye. There are a few funky things like a pushbutton for the starter in addition to the key but it's pretty clean mechanically and wiring wise. He pulled the AC belt but the pump is not frozen. Other than an a SSII, it doesn't seem highly optioned - in fact it has a 2bbl and looked like a 304 to me with a quick glance under the hood.

I have no vested interest in this Scout - just found it on Craigslist and took a look at it as you don't find an SSII for sale in the neighborhood every day and I promised to share it in the Binder community. I'm sure you could get him down off his $6500 price a bit but he has done his research so he does know what he has. He has a nice old Merc in the garage he wants to restore so he's motivated.

Good Luck! Pete

Restoring 69 Scout 800A with 69K miles (family truck rolled in towing accident - doing frame swap and body work) - found highly optioned 69 Scout 800A with automatic, AC, power brakes, full carpet kit, running 304, perfect body, flintstone floors for $500 - may build another! Have lotsa extra parts! Seeking quick help with minor welding to frame body mounts and borrow a engine puller for a couple days - can trade extra parts!

Maybe our Binder Planet admin can assist us with a request from the HCB moderator?
