Default New Scout in Greenwood

Hey everyone,

Been trying to get a scout since '94-'95. Last weekend, finally got it done.
1979 Scout. 345 ci, 4 speed, Dana 44's front and back.

I have bought manuals from another scout owner on here. Once they get here, I am ready to get it going. I have a lot more questions already, but I figured I'd try the books first.

Thank you everyone who have done great write ups on thier builds. Learned a lot from them.

Thank you both Dennis Bernth and for answering A LOT of questions.
I already have my need to fix and want to fix lists started...

I will get some pictures of "Sully" up soon. Here are a couple goodies that the first owner had kept. He kept a lot of stuff, makes tracking when what was changed and what to real easy.

Again, thank you,
Robert

Boys helped with the name. It is light blue, big, and sounds like a monster..
Sully was the main character in Monsters Inc. the movie.

Plus it's such a "COOL" name!

Plus it's actually a fitting name for a Scout due to the puddles they leave behind;

"sully - To mar the cleanness or luster of; soil or stain", "to stain or tarnish"

"I am what I am, and that's all what I am" - Popeye, ug, ug, ug!

Well, it is living up to that. Master cylinder, power steering, and of course oil has already stained the driveway! Lol

Replacing the brake hoses. Looking at the steel braided ones from Anything Scout. I don't plan on serious off road. They run $150 plus shipping. Autozone has the 3 hoses for $115. Are the AS ones worth getting over the AZ ones?

Congrat's on getting a great vehicle!

For a mostly street rig, the stock hoses will work great.
www.rockauto.com is an excellent source for reasonably priced parts. Shipping is quick, and reasonable as well.
For instance all three hoses on Rockauto comes to $63.00. without any promo codes or rebates (which are available from time to time).

August 2012, "the build" begins:
4BT, 4L60E, Dana 300 w/Tera-Low, Linked, lifted and stretched (just a bit).

Waiting from some parts to get in, the boys and I decieded to work on the seat belt for thier baby sister. While doing this< i found something bothering me. The Passenger side sits 1 inch lower than the driver side. I never noticed it before, but it really stands out ot me now. I have not measured the frame heigth. I am guessing if the frame is lower, it is a suspension, and if not, the body is sagging? Would this be correct?
