I would do engine and trans and bolt transfercase on later. As it hangs in the way when bolted on. Shouldn't be to hard to bolt in with the front clip off.

Awesome build and I hope more pics are coming. Questions:

What brand steering column did you use and did you have to modify the mounts etc?

Do you have any more detailed pics of the front double shock set up? Did you have the mounts made or did you buy them?

Any pics of the rear shock placements?

Thank you and keep up the great work.

Steve

the steering column is from ebay this is mine which was 199 it is 2 " like this
( http://www.ebay.com/itm/32-Chrome-St...item2c663012d3 )

you need a 2" firewall billet swivel bracket like this
(http://www.ebay.com/itm/Billet-Alumi...e993e8&vxp=mtr ) ,

after removing stock column pass through brackets off the stock firewall 1 of the stock threaded holes line up (bottom right looking from engine bay) drill the other 3 w nuts and bolts (1/4" i think)

you need this bracket for inside I made a 1/8x1" flatbar bracket screwed bracket to flatbar then flatbar to existing bolt holes for the stock column mount
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CBM-10950-Bi...item336fce6850

then of course steering u joints "D" style except steering box for steering rod I used 1" stainless round bar flattened to a "D" on both ends with a belt sander...easy!

Ill take some detail pics this weekended of this and the hoops...hoops were tricky have to be just right so tire will clear when fully turned and articulated..AND THAT DEPENDS ON THE DIAMETER OF THE TIRE , I could never go smaller in tire size, it would hit hoop, I could only go bigger :-) ,,,I actually made 2 sets ...had to cut first ones out and throw away cuz they would have hit at full turn/articulation

Question??? In the pictures on your second post, you show the reverse shackle kit being installed. I'm close to starting my frame fab work and noticed where you have the front fang located. It appears to be rearward of the front crossmember. Everything I've read/seen shows the location to be in line with the front of the crossmember. Am I missing something?

hI, those are IHOnly North fangs (very high quality and well worth the $70 or $80 btw) ... drop a straightedge down the front of the frame crossbar ( and the front of the fangs up againnst it and 1/4 outside of side rails (33.5 overall width) and thats correct! That puts the front shackle basically in the same place as the stock, and with the extra lenght moves the axle forward between 1-2 inches (safe) :-) The more you move it forward the more you move the axle forward.... You can move as much as you want! Just keep in mind that too far might equal a new driveshaft and possibly a pinion angle change keep in mind all the things that will change some no big deal some are (shock angle, brakeline lenght etc..)

UPDATE TODAY We finally got the engine/trans/transfer case in today BTW it was MUCH easier to bolt all together on the floor out side scout and put all in together at once (twin sticks and all) The load leveler was INvaluable in doing this, went in like a breeze. We tried just the engine by itself first then pulled it out, bolted everything together and it was WELL worth it. :-)
Check out the twinsticks and shifter

I hope you installed the starter & shim before finally mounting the engine.
Not much maneuvering room on a Scout w/headers for starter manipulation.
