I might just try to weld it back together if I dont find one. That was what I was originally thinking but I had hoped to find a replacement. My wife works for GE fleet and has alot of truck connections so I have her getting in contact with her people. She already found one supplier that has a whole tranny I could get but I havent gotten a price yet and I would rather not have to buy the whole thing. OH well, what do you do. I guess I may just have to weld it and no more speed shifting/racing the old dump truck.

Another vote for weld repair. Sounds like you're connected to the rebuilders 'network', you might also try the parts line setup that medium/HD truck breakers use to hail for specific parts. Maybe worth a call to Transmission Exchange in Portland www.txchange.com , at one time they were VERY hip to IH transmissions. You might get lucky. NOS/NORS is likely wishful thinking, but one part # for a V8 application is 386 600. You might just try an ITEC dealer...

I welded it. Works great. I took some pics with my phone now I just have to figure out how to post them. I took the shifter assembly to work and disassembled it, cleaned it, beveled the edges and then tig welded it. It turned out good. Now I just have to remember to be more patient when shifting and dont force it. Thanks for all the replies.

I have a 1969 Loadstar 1600 with a 304 and a single speed rear. It has a five speed trans but seems to have an odd (to me) shift pattern. I have not had the old girl running yet so I could figure out the exact pattern. I'm assuming low is towards the driver and forward. It has four gear slots towards the front of the truck (assuming reverse is all the way to pass side and forward) and only two gear slots toward the rear of the truck. I bought an owners/operators manual from Binder Books but it does not show this shift pattern. There is no decal in the truck cab anymore and no pattern or the shift knob. Because of the single speed rear, I presume it may be an overdrive fifth or at least direct. If she wont do more than 50 I may have to swap in a two-speed rear. Any info is appreciated!

It's possible someone put a totally different trans in the old girl. Origionally I thought I had a six-speed because of the four forward gear slots. I couldn't find a tag on it anywhere. It looks kinda similar to the pics posted here but is different. I have ordered the line setting ticket so maybe that will help unless someone did a transplant at sometime. I will have to investigate farther.

The shift pattern is probably like this: 1 2 4 R
3 5 Pretty common to old medium duties and school buses of all makes around here. Pattern won't show right for some reason, so 1 2 4 and R are in the forward gates. 3 and 5 are in the rear gates.
