Default Carburetor Qs 2300-C

Just pulled the carburetor from my 69 1200 D. Looks like I stripped out the hole for one of the fuel bowl screws. I don't know how to repair this any suggestions?

I have another carburetor that is slightly different. It came off a 69 1100 D 4 x 4 should I mix-and-match? Can I switch the carburetor entirely?

put a longer bolt in the hole.
chase threads first. holley doesnt provide screws that are long enough, and using aftermarket screw gaskets makes matters worse.

Maybe you could just helicoil the stripped hole? Shouldn't take too much effort if the carb otherwise is good.

Thanks for the input Jay. Do I need to use aluminum screws?

I just ran into this sitch myself last week. Unless you tried to screw back into that hole, it may be salvagable. Chase, re-thread, the threads with a 12-24 thread chaser. If you cannot find a thread chaser that small, a 12-24 plug tap will work but be careful not to start and cut new threads. Use plenty of cutting oil and be sure, I say BE SURE to blow out the crud the tap will leave in the hole.

A dab of anti-sieze on the threads of the screw will lubricate and you do not need much torque on the screws to seat the bowl gasket.

Aluminum is bad enough, but aluminum screws in aluminum holes guarantees trouble around the block.
