Default 800 gas mileage

Just wondering what kind of gas mileage everyone gets. In my 68 800 with the 152 I average between 14 and 16. Is this good, bad or middle of the road? Most of my driving is interstate to work.

I just ran my new 1961 80 for it's first trip. Most was at 60mph then some town streets. It has the highway 4.27's in it!!!
I did 15mpg.
I was kind of expecting better since this is my first 4 cyl and lots of guys were claiming 20+.

I get about 14 running around with my fully loaded SOA scout with 345. It weights near 6000lbs.

Thinking of adding EFI and see if it makes much difference on this 152!

Sounds about right. I think Gary Billings was able to squeeze 20 out of a 4 cyl one time... I get 14 since regearing to 3.31. I got 11 with 3.73s.

My 69 196 kills me in the winter for snow plowing. In high 4 wheel I burn up one gallon per every four miles which is one snow removal around the farm. But it sure beats and is warmer them starting up the big cabbed diesel tractor and breathing fumes with no jams. Come to think about it I spill less beer so it is cheaper running the Scout!

In the later 60's, I put many miles on a stock '61, keeping track of mileage all the time I owned it and driving everywhere from around town and in the coastal woods to the far Nevada deserts. My recollection is that it got between 14 and 15 MPG during those years. BTW, when others started bragging about the power of their engines and performance of their cars, I'd just mention that mine had dual 427's... and leave out that I meant differentials.

My 800B with 304, 4-speed, 3.73 axles and H-78 tires, averaged the same way over the same areas and also corrected for odometer errors, got 14.7 and it seemed to get that figure both in town, on the steep coastal dirt roads, or at 60 on the highway. Early on, I'd put in a MPG meter with a flow sensor and speedometer pickup and although it wasn't digital and couldn't perform any calculations, periodically glancing at the the gauge gave me a pretty good idea what the overall usage was under most circumstances. 'Course, those figures were with the old real gasoline, not the modern alcohol/whatever/doctored blends here now.

You also have to factor in add ons. Some folks getting in the low 20's may have a weber 2bl, electronic ignition, an rv cam, exhaust manifold porting or an overdrive.
